[QUOTE="Viper2847"]

[QUOTE="kemar7856"]not worth it because your memory will have to go at the 5300 speed unless you replace them allkemar7856

what do you mean replace them all? my question basically is that my processor (T3200) which is a dula core pentium 2GHz only has a 667mhz FSB so even if I got PC2-6400 ram which runs at 800mhz wouldnt my processor just downclock it to 667 which is exactly what pc2-5300 is?

If thats the case then obviously theres no point in me getting PC6400 since it'll be the same as 5300 regardless and that way I can save some money.

Can someone get me a clear answer for this please?

thats what I meant your pc will downgrade the pc6400 to the pc 5300

ok are you SURE about this? IF this is true then I have 2 questions.

1. Then why did my laptop come with 2gb PC6400 ram to begin with if it cant take advantage of it?

2. If you look here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=226237 some people were asking about whether or not it would run at 800 MHz even on laptops that have core 2 duo processors with 800 MHz FSB and were told that it will still downclock to PC5300.

If this is dependant on the FSB then why would that be the case? Does it depend maybe on the chipset? If so,im running the intel 4 series chipset if that makes any difference.

Thanks for the support.

well I can get either one,i just want to know if its worth it. I dont even know if with this processor having an FSB of 667mhz it would run PC-6400 ram at 800mhz or just at 667 which is the same as just getting PC2-5300 ram...

ok i was wondering if for this laptop http://computersandparts.co.nz/product/Satellite-L300-Pentium-T3200-2-0GHz-1GB-RAM/122716/ using PC-6400 ram would be any better than PC-5300?

Seeing that the FSB on the pentium T3200 only runs at 667mhz wouldnt that even make PC2-6400 ram run at the same speed or just have no advantage over PC5300 ram?

Im planning on going to vista 64bit and need to know if for this machine there would be any advantage of having 4gb PC2-5300 vs 4GB PC2-6400.

Also,is it possible to overlcock the PC2-5300 ram to 6400 speed?

Would a pentium T3200 (dual core 2ghz) be able to take advantage of using 4gb ram? I know vista 32 bit only allows up to 3.2 but I will probably eventually update to a 64bit OS. I just dont know if this processor is fast enough to take advantage of 4gb or not.

Also,im confused as to what is the maximum ram my laptop can hold. Its the toshiba satellite l300 with pentium T3200 and toshiba says it can only hold up to 4 gig but it comes with the intel GMA4500 chipset and intel says the 4 series chipset holds up to 8gb ram. Can someone explain this to me?

I need to know this so ill know whether i should just stick in 1 stick with 4gig or 2 sticks with 2gb on each. Any help is greatly appreciated.

yeah but I just want to know what its able to hold. I may eventually just replace the 2gb and just put in 2 4gb sticks.. and I can get vista 64bit no problem..its not a question of money but if it will perform better or not.

[QUOTE="Viper2847"]

Hey I just had a few questions regarding laptops.

1. Is there any real difference in performance between a pentium dual core T3200 (2Ghz) and Core 2 duo 2Ghz? I googled and found some people saying there is a difference but not enough to be noticeable for "normal" usage. I would of thought for gaming there would be a difference?

2. Is it harmful to leave the laptop plugged in even if the battery is fully charged?

3. How does the intel GMA 4500M compare to the X3100? Id also like to know the clock speed on it. Ive found alot of info on the X4500 and X4500MHD but nothing on just the basic GMA 4500 chipset. Id also like to know if it would have any trouble playing movies at 720p/1080p.

Thanks for any info anyone can offer.

1: They are pretty much the same, you wont notice any difference. 2: It is best for your battery if you want it to last longest to unplug it when its fully charged then insert the charger when its getting low.

Thanks so much for the response. So I guess even for gaming having a core duo wont help? I always see that for desktop pc's people say the core 2 is far better for gaming than the pentium d... and is the term T3200 mean anything? A few more questions. Can this CPU run vista 64 bit well? Right now it has 2 gb of ram and was thinking of upgrading to 4 gig but not sure if I should stick to 32 bit or go up to 64bit vista. Was also wondering what the max ram this thing can hold (its using intel express 4 GMA chipset). Intel says the 4 series holds up to 8 gb but the manufacture website says only up to 4gb (toshiba satellite L300) And lastly,would it be possible in the near future to upgrade the processor to a core 2 duo on this motherboard..lets say bumping up to 2.6GHz in a year or something,and if so whats the most maximum this thing can hold?

detach the hard drive and put it back on. Sometimes if the HDD isnt on properly the the 360 wont show up on the TV
