Doesnt matter. Its not the CPU that overheats. Its the GPU.

And its being fixed with a better heatsink as we speak. All refurbished and new 360 should have the fix. If not they will fix it if it breaks down.

Ya my mouth is watering for these games that are gonna come out. It's gotten to the point that I need to carry a bucket with me lol.

This is good news as now it's pretty much official about the better heat sinks being put in. My friend and I are holding off on buying a 360 till we get that 65nm chip. But everyone is tired of all these crappy problems with the console, and once these new consoles start shipping all of us new 360 buyers will not experience any problems. Microsoft has to be sick and tired of getting so many defective consoles shipped to them. So it's in their best interest to get this all fixed up, as Imyself if I worked therewould be pretty annoyed to walk into the tech area and see thousands of faulty consoles.

And overall I know alot of you guys are gonna trade your current consoles in for the 65nm one. So I'm happy too that you gamers that have endured so much pain with this machine. Will now be able to stop worrying about your console breaking down. Now we will all finally be able to just enjoy the gaming experience, just like we did with the original Xbox 1 console.

Guys I don't have the system yet but my main focus is to get the Elite around October. Mostly because I want that new chip set inside my console. However with the announcement about the 45nm chip coming sometime in 2008. It got me to think should I get the 65nm chip or wait for the 45nm chip to come out. Keep in mind that I have patience and I am in no hurry to purchase the console.

But basically am I correct to assume that the 65nm chip will cool the system more, but the 45nm will be extra extra stronger in cooling it?

With that being said do you guys feel the 65nm chip will do the trick and fix the console. Or would the smart thing be to wait for that 45nm chip to come out?

Simple question; is there a chance that theElite will get the "three red lights of death" or whatever it's called? Because I'm planning on getting one after mine got the ring of death.

Why don't you wait until October and get an Elite with the new 65nm chip. But if your in a hurry then buy at your own risk I guess. If I do choose to buy an Elite I'm waiting for this chip first. In the meantime I'm having alot of fun playing Deus Ex! :P

Well with luck all these problems will stop once they get the 65nm chip installed in the machines come October. All of us people that don't have one yet, do not want to be on our 5th 360. But with the Elite being much better, and combined with the chip I do believe things will look better.

And you guys that have a 360 will probably be trading it in for a chipped Elite.

Thought I was the only one. My 7th broke and they sent me a new one (my 8th)with all the hardware fixes (Ben Q DVD drive and new heat sink),..........2 days later it gives me random disc read errors and almost gets hot enough to burn my skin. Its got lots of room all that jazz. Well I actually sold my 8th (didnt wanna bother sending it in anymore)and was gonna be done with the 360 all together, low and behold my girlfriend buys me an elite. Gotta say that it runs really cool and quiet so far....but so did my last until 2 days later.

Im hoping this one is the lucky one, but you know its bad when MS themselves say that the failure rate is high. And Peter Moore leaving is no help either. Wonder if he knew a S*** storm was coming and just decided to bail? Anway I want a 360....and I hope I never have to replace this one:)

Might be a good idea to do that seeing as the one you have now doesn't have it. You shouldn't take the risk of keeping that one as it could bust. Be best to get the chipped system you know.

Xbox customer service would tell you not to use a surge protector. Plug straight to the wall outlet, the power brick has built in surge protection.getyeryayasout

I always plugged my original Xbox 1 to the the power surge in my room. Mainly cause my dad told me to avoid wall outlets cause the system could break. Like a spike or something I think he said.

But the fact that the 360 has a built in surge is something I didnot know.However thankfully now I do lol.
