[QUOTE="computorial"]Do not go for quad. Buy dual core, for you will never be able to take advantage of 4 cores, at least not in majority games and other applications. www.computorial.blogspot.comJSDempsey

Thats not true. These next few years there will be an increase in multithreaded games and applications. It would be a wise investment to buy a good quad core CPU now. Its not a must, but it will be useful.

agreed, and isnt building a new pc about making it as future proof as possible?

yes, it depends on who the manufacturer is. i bought a 6200 from BFG tech for an old pc a while back and on the box it said it was overclocked and it was pretty fast for an old card

I use the Alienware m15x. and its a great laptop for gaming. i am using the intel dual core t9300 at 2.5 ghz 2GB of 667 ram and a 9800mGT and i am able to play crysis on high settings at about 30 FPS. the touch controls are fine they can be a wee bit irratating cause if you swipe your hand across to clean of dust you end up opening like 6 programs. but i have no regrets buying the M15x i love to show it off to my friends with the FX lighting system. As to where to get it the Alienware website is the only place to get it because you have to have certain things customized (like the name plate at the bottom, and the hardware you want in it) so if you want a gaming pc that can be taken around with you the M15x is the way to go.

it going to be hard for you to find a cheap laptop that runs games nicely. i am running a laptop that can run crysis on high settings ( 9800GTm, 2GB, 320GB 7200rpm) but its An Alienware and i paid nearly 3 grand for it and it only gives me about an hour of gaming (and 3 hours surfing the net when i turn off the GPU and switch to onboard graphics)
