My launch 60GB PS3 died last night. I was playing SSX3 (yeah, I still play my PS2 games) when it beeped, the screen cut out, and I was greeted with a flashing red light. Now, she'll only power on briefly before going through the same process.
I'm torn on what to do, and I'm mad that I'm probably going to lose a bunch of game saves, which I've put quite a bit of time into. I probably have close to 1,000 hours in Oblivion, Fallout 3, New Vegas, GTA IV, and Skyrim alone.
I'm torn on whether to buy a new one or send it in to Sony and get it repaired. I traded in my PS2 when I bought the 3 originally, so I'd really like to retain the BC, but I don't want to wait upwards of 6 weeks to get it fixed. I can live without the PS2 games, but I'll certainly miss the few I still play.
Any suggestions on how I can get my old saves? I've tried removing the hard drive last night, but it's a small Phillips that requires a jeweler's screw driver, which I have, but I can't get enough leverage to loosen the screw holding the HD in. I'm afraid I'm going to end up stripping it out.
