I'm 28 years old. I know lots of people ages 21-35 and they all have friends that they can go to the movies with. It's very weird your wife wouldn't even see Iron Man with you but that's going off on a tangent. Anyways the bottom line is going to a movie like Iron Man 2 alone is just odd. No one is dragging anyone anywhere because almost everyone is seeing Iron Man 2 so you might just be bitter.

Walking out of a movie and then posting about it is just really weird. Iron Man 2 wasn't even close to bad enough to walk out of and any movie that is really you shouldn't have bought a ticket for in the first place.

What is your problem? He went by himself,so what? Last time I checked, there's no laws against attending a movie by yourself. You're just making yourself look like a jackass.

There also isn't a law against believing the government is run by lizard people or dressing up like Barney and dancing in the middle of the street. That doesn't make these things acceptable.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I can either see Iron Man 2 alone or I can see it with friends. I choose to see it with friends. We also went out for dinner beforehand and drinks afterwards so it was part of the night. All of my friends wanted to see the movie so it would be strange not to see it with them.

Why do you keep pushing this? He chooses to go on his own and you like going with frends. How does this affect you?

It doesn't affect me. He is making it out like going to the movies alone and walking out is a normal thing. It isn't. He then chooses to portray me as some follower for going to see a blockbuster movie with friends. The whole situation is just bizarre.

How so?

fend_oblivion

First of all it is clear OP is a weird guy because he paid for a movie ticket and walked out of the movie. Secondly a movie like Iron Man 2 is the kind of movie you see with other people and if OP saw it alone that means he couldn't find anyone to see it with. This fits because anyone who makes a scene by walking out of Iron Man 2 in the middle of it is way too insufferable to hang out with.

Walking out of a movie is perfectly normal. Some movies flat out suck and don't deserve your time. No point watching a movie that beats around the bush.

And just because he was alone and walked out doesn't mean he is insufferable to hang out with. That's just making generalizations.

Going to a movie alone and walking out is just odd. This means that you are so desperate to see the movie that you go anyway even though you can't find anyone to go with. So you want to see the movie. It is a waste of money and OP is trying to act like his taste in movies is so great that Iron Man 2 isn't worthy of his time when in reality he is just strange. When I saw Iron Man 2 it was a packe theatre of at least 400 people and I didn't see anyone there alone.

I've walked out on several movies but it was simply because the movies were awful lol. Daybreakers and charlie's angels come to mind. I just paid for another movie and waited till it started.

I still think this is a little weird but it's different because a) you went to see a different movie immediately after and b) you didn't make a thread about it.

[QUOTE="action1234"]

I'm sure some of you guys know me on this off-topic forum from making threads about my social problems. Well here I am, still, saying...NOTHING IS MOVING!! I try to talk to people, but people don't come to to me later on. I haven't made a dramatically, noticeable difference. Maybe that's the problem?? Do I just have to force some kind of joke out?? Approach a group and talk to them all at once?? Jeez, I'm so sick of it at this point. Imean, just ONE close friend would make all the difference.

Any other tips or advice to help me out?

fend_oblivion

Instead of tackling a group, start with just one person who's not too popular. Let them do most of the talking while you listen. Never lie. People can usually tell in real life when you say BS.

Another thing is, don't try to over do anything. Try not to freak out people by doing/wearing/saying things that freaks out people. Also, be helpful but make sure you let them know there is a limit to prevent people from walking over you or using you.

If you're a guy, don't wear make-up and never be too cynical. Life is brutal so there is no need for you to be overly negative about it and tell others. Be optimistic or well balanced in your positivity and negativity.

Trying to have so called "friends" is easy, but having a good friend will take time. It might even take years, but it's worth it. Trust me.

I don't think you should talk to other loners. When you are chatting with strangers it is best just never to be negative unless their views are so warped you're trying to eject from the conversation. It's best to keep the topics to fluff and away from stuff like politics, religion, etc. Even if you win a debate on these you just lose anyway because the person won't enjoy talking to you. If anything just practice going to a bar at offpeak hours and talk to the bartender/regulars about whatever sports is on TV. Guys love talking about this kind of crap.

In terms of going up to groups solo this is very difficult unless it's at an event of some kind or you are a very interesting person. Find 1-2 friends to come out with you and it makes it a lot easier. If you have no friends you're starting from scratch so just start talking to randoms and see if they don't suck.

If I was in the theater I would laugh at you and call you a chump. Iron Man 2 was a good action movie and "walking out" just means you were trying to make some grand gesture about how you're too good and sophisticated to even sit through the movie when in fact it makes you look like a loser.

Also since you walked out you obviously saw the movie alone or walked out on your friends. Either way seeing a movie alone says a lot about you. If you walked out on your friends and they still hang out with you ever they are just as bad as you.

[QUOTE="bytgames"] what does seeing a movie alone mean? that i NEED ppl with me to just go see a movie? lol....seeing the movie alone justmeans i couldnt talk anyone to seeing this boring movie with me.

No that means you couldn't find anyone to see it with you. It's not like Iron Man 2 is some niche indie flick that you have a soft spot for. Pretty much everyone is going to see Iron Man 2 that isn't a toddler or a senior citizen so the fact that you could not find one person willing to see one of the biggest movies of the summer with you on opening night says a lot about you.
