Look, I can understand critiquing Fable 2, it isn't a perfect game. However, in all honestly, it delivers and excels in an area of gaming that just seems rarely utilized or recognized by today's gaming standards. It succeeds on so many levels regarding accessibility (an amazing pick-up-and-play factor few games have had this generation) while still involving an engaging and intelligent experience. It isn't perfect, but in all honesty, was the most FUN I've had in a game in a long long time. Its difficult to pinpoint exactly what makes fable 2 such an amazing game, but the less you focus on specificity and instead just let yourself fully immerse in the entire experience is when you fully come to realize what an incredible gaming experience Fable 2 is.

In my current life experience, with a finite amount of time and energy to devote to a single video game, Fable 2 was the most epic and entertaining experience I have had since Ocarina of Time (when admittedly, I had tons of free time). This is just my anecdotal two-cents, but in my opinion more games need to be made with as much depth, thoughtfulness, and accessibility as Fable 2. It offers an extremely intellectual and accessible happy medium from fully engrossing epics and Wii Music-esque causal gaming I have come across that seem to integrally merge the engrossing games of yesteryear with the instant-gratification that is our current day in age. I absolutely loved every moment of playing this game, and I can only hope more developers follow this thoughtful method in creating new games like this in the future. I believe it is a great, under-appreciated (at least by non-360-ers), immersive adventure that sits proudly among the larynx of games I have beaten.

Just wondering if you guys could shed some light on my situation and maybe give me some advice.

I just bought a Dell XPS M1530 laptop for grad school. I mainly will use it for my research running SPSS, internet, Skype-- normal everyday functions for a student, but I also beefed up the specs hoping I could competantly game on it once in a while.

My specs are the following:

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.4 GHz/800MHzFSB 3M L2 cache), 4GB DDR2 667MHz 2 Dimm, 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, 320 GB 7200RPM Hard Drive w/ Free Fall Sensor, Seagat Casey M1530, Vista Premium.

Am I set for the next few years to play most games or should I look to upgrade something? I'm talking games like Sins of a SE, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, maybe Far Cry 2? Like I said, if I can't play games like Crysis at the highest setting its ok, but I guess I'm curious before I go out buying these games what my capabilities are....Thanks!

I'm at a point where I just want this issue to be rectified as fast as possible, I have a favor to ask some kind soul who might help me out with a new computer question.

I just got a nice Dell XPS yesterday, and evrything has been pretty much great w/ it thus far-- can't wait to start gaming on the thing! Anyways, I'm currently quite pissed that when I go on ESPN.com or CNN.com or the like, you know, sites where they have streaming video and whatnot, the video is either frozen or downloads INCREDIBLY slow!!! It MIGHT be my wireless connection, but my girlfriend's macbook plays the video perfectly, and i know damn well my new computer is much much more powerful and capable to kick butt than her two year old apple... ? I also am pretty sure I downloaded the latest version of FLASH...I have Some Spyware and MacAfree Antivirus programs running, and a couple sites have said I need to change those settings, but when I try to it seems nothing is in plain english. Is this a Vista issue? AAAAARRRRRR!!!!

You guys are usually great with all this tech mumbo jumbo....any advice would be greatly appreciated!

So Sony does basically the same thing as microsoft did last year in showing games we already knew about (w/ the exception of the CGI GOW3)--the same sort of thing MS was blasted for (or at least the resounding response was tepid at best...) last year, and sony this year comes up on top?

Don't you mean Microsoft did the same thing that they did last year in showing games we already know about?

As...last time I checked, this E3 Sony showed MAG, Infamous, GOW3, R&C sequel, DC universe, and tons of new arcade and psp games...

The only reason MS ISNT being bombed is because of the groundbreaking thrill at the end, besides that we saw almost nothing in terms of new games to be excited for, just good gameplay footage from existing ones.

In everything else besides games, MS and Sony were pretty much equal, but in games, Sony won IMO.

Oh, I'm not disputing at all that Microsoft seemed to take the same approach this year as last, with the exception of those Live features and whatnot, and of course, the FF bomb. However, Sony seemed to take the same approach as MS from last year and this year-- MAG looks ok (if this is your only big announcement, it doesn't counter FF xiii), but inFamous was on the cover of GI a while ago- no surprise there, GOW3 was a CGI trailer a la KZ2, the R and C sequel isn't even a bonafide sequel, the DC Universe...? Come on now, I'm not even going to try to jump on that train. The rest were games we already knew about for a long time. If MS had that sort of presentation they would have been ostracized here for some time to come.

Now MS's conference wasn't AMAZING, but its pretty shocking how easily people here (or at least a notable portion) forget the significance of a true Final Fantasy installment going multiplat. Its pretty much been the bacon and eggs of the Playstation brand since PSX (but yes, PS still has plenty of exclusive mainstream titles). I personally can't wait to play it on my 360, and i wasn't about to shell out the extra mullah for a PS3 solely for that game. It is especially huge considering how vehemently the Cows would dismiss such rumors and speculation, and claim it couldn't be done on the 360, yadda yadda yadda...But now that it has been announced, after less than ONE day, it is processed, digested, the impact is (apparently) minimized, and some sort of collective "perspective" transcends upon Cows that it is just fine and dandy the very game they had been touting as a major exclusive for like what- 4 years...? is now no longer solely a PS3 marquee game...? "Well, we still get to play it.... its okay w/ me..." Lets at least pause and reflect on the announcement a little- at least acknowledge it is pretty cool for Lemmings, and at best, at least a little bitter for Cows...

You see this sort of thought process all the time on here. A highly touted game comes out, people cry and moan about it either being overrated or underrated, two or three days go by and its existence is nearly forgotten. Its impact is minimized and the collective thought process returns to "what do you got for me next?" "Whats coming out later for my such and such a system?" Games that have been hyped for 4 years finally release with rabid anticipation, it comes out, and its like it barely leaves any sort of residual effect on people at all. Is the future the ONLY factor of importance here? If i was a developer i would be fed up with a majority of you people-- i wouldn't care in the slightest what you guys thought because cynicism and a general lack of appreciation is the underlying theme of almost every thread in here...

I know this is system wars, and fair is fair, but come on! Lets enjoy THE MOMENT a little bit. Life isn't all bad....

Is anyone else cringing while reading the ridiculously forced enthusiasm of the PS3 IGN staff on their live blog? It is beyond forced. Did they replace their seasoned writers for 14 year old boys or what?

lol you 360 fans think i regret buying a more reliable system with more features. i really think you ned to stop this because the money we have spent is good and done. you think i regret my purchase because of this spending 5 hundred 1 and half years ago. you think we give dam of what i spent that long ago. really that money has gone and past. i get to play final fantasy and versus on my ps 3 end of story.

i rather have sony spend they money else were(first party) instead of money on a game that will sell more in japan on the ps 3 than the world combined really. enough of this damage control really. we get versus you get half the game.

actully we should thank micrsoft for making this final fantasy the shortest one of them all.

i mean come on now lost odd. was on 4 disc and 360 not having a hdd standard really is going to hurt this game.

System Wars is always by default a continual example for the psychological phenomenon called cognitive dissonance, but since the Microsoft E3 conference it has never been so apparent as it is now with the Cows.

I could honestly use this as a textbook example in a Social psychology lecture it fits so perfectly.

I do like you a lot Col Mustard, i always thoroughly enjoy your threads and System wars contributions. Your logic coupled with your indirect (and at times, not so indirect...) backhanded jabs at Cows always give me a good chuckle. Keep it up!
