This is obviously a fake story contrived by Microsoft and Leadbetter so that they can unveil a 5 TF GPU on September 29th. It'll be too late for SONY to do anything then. Oh yeah, and you're gonna have to buy Xbox Platinum to unlock the 2nd GPU..

Look... I understand that people care about specs or w/e, but don't let this affect your purchasing decision. If it has games you enjoy, then who cares what the system can or cannot do. If you think about it, this is one of the FIRST generations where there is no WRONG choice as to which console you buy. Think about that. Think about what it felt for the guy who bought a Saturn or N64 (less so, obviously) when all his friends got PSX. Or the guys who went GC & Xbox when the WORLD was going PS2.

We finally have a generation where not only are all consoles (yes, including the Wii U) are going to offer rich and compelling experiences and are all going to do fairly well. This is a generation that no one losses! Unless.... the announcement this monday ends up changing things. Which it totally has the potential to. And if what Valve ends up doing is what I think it is, all bets on how this generation were going to go are officially out the window.

Shensolidus

I disagree. The PS4 will take 75% of the market and 3rd parties will start making exclusives again. Xboners am cry.

Power should have been priority One. But it wasn't and MS will feel it it financially. But they are in denial right now. Also their probably banking on the NFL and TV crowd buying the X1.

lundy86_4

Why? Historically, power never proved to be overly important. From last-gen,, we can see the importance of app inclusion... I mean, Jesus Christ, both Sony and MS hounded that shit, yet MS came out on top.

Because historically, the most powerful console was also $100+ more expensive than the competition.

Now, the most powerful console is $100 cheaper than the competition. That just makes it a lot easier for the consumers. If power didn't matter, we would still being gaming on the PS1 and PS2.

How about no? I want movie games to not spread and become the new big thing. Although I'm afraid it's a bit late for that.

Open-world/Sandbox games aren't the only type of games out there.

The Uncharted games, especially Uncharted 2, were a blast to play.

The Last of Us was linear, but it was a linear game done properly. There was a good mix of both storytelling and gameplay. You had plenty of options to clear a stage of enemies before progressing to the next point of the game.

The thing is, SONY has many 1st party studios that cater to the needs of every gamer.

You want a platformer? LittleBigPlanet and Knack.

You want an open-world game? InFamous: SS

You want a linear game with a deep story and an unforgettable experience? Naughty Dog games.

You want shooting games? Killzone, which has more preorders than DR3, Forza5 and RYSE combined.

What do we have on the Xbone camp?

Nothing but forgettable shooters.

Halo, which is a shadow of its former self.

I don't see any AAA quality studios on Microsoft's side.

sweet, a couple games in a handful of genres. The gen will be over in no time

Most gamers only need 1 killer game to make them purchase a console.

For the PS4, that's naughty dog games.

It used to be Halo for the Xbox and Xbox 360. Now the series is trash.

Oh boy... people are in for a surprise when they go out and buy their Xbox's come November. I really thought that online service wise, the feature set for Xbox Live was kind of a freebie. All they had to do was replicate it in their latest OS, at the very minimum. Boy, they just went ahead and screwed that up.

Shensolidus

Ahh, so it's a half-assed OS with half the features missing, eh?

Put it this way.... there are two major functionality with the guide button. Pressing it brings up the OS main menu, holding it brings up a menu to shut down the system or shut down the controller. You no longer have a quick button that gets you into your friends list like with the current 360. O.O

But you have a devkit, right? Normally, would there be differences in OS functionality between devkits and the retail units? I remember seeing a youtube video of the PS4 devkit UI when a game crashed to the OS. It looked nothing like the UI shown at gamescom.

Why? Especially with that avatar pic.

wis3boi

I have been a 360 gamer for the entirety of this gen.

Halo is junk now. The Xbone controller is worse than DS3. There was no reason for me to stick with the Xbox camp any longer. You only need to play The Last of Us to understand what a masterpiece that game is. It is a testament to Naughty Dog's talent. Naughty Dog shits all over Microsoft's 1st party studios.

Now that I have experienced Naughty Dog games, I feel that I can't miss out on playing a PS4 Naughty Dog game be it Uncharted 4 or some new IP. On the other hand, I could live without playing Halo 5. In fact, I'd rather not play it because I know it's going to be a piece of shit and a disgrace to the gaming industry.

who's alt are you

Not an alt, little boy. I'm a disgruntled Xbox 360 owner who's jumping ship to the playstation family. You must be living under a rock if you think I'm the only lemming like this.

Go tell Microsoft to get their own Naughty Dog and go tell them to fix their garbage controller.

I dont see how it could be worse than ds3 even if it's nowhere near as good as the 360 controller. AutoPilotOn

Trust me, it is. The controller screw-up was the final straw. The only things holding me back from jumping to the playstation family has been Halo and the controller.

Halo 4 was trash and the Halo series is junk now.

The controller was worse than the DS3 while the DS4 was getting raving praise from the gaming community and professional critics.

I bought the PS3 a few weeks after E3 with The Last of Us, all 3 Uncharted games and God of War 3. Absolutely fantastic games that I've been missing out on. Too bad Microsoft doesn't have any good franchises left.

its not just the servers, its the whole xbox live experience. cnt describe it you just have to try it.

lostrib

Yeah, and the Xbone controller is actually worse than the DS3 (I've tried it). I couldn't believe it. You wanna know what that means? It means you can't use performance in previous generations to guage performance in future generations.

Both SONY and Microsoft start back at zero this gen.

oh man, anecdotal evidence on the interwebs. must be legit

First off, the inferiority of the Xbone controller to the DS4 has been noted by both professional critics and gamers who have went to E3, gamescom and PAX. I've personally tried the Xbone controller and it's absolutely WORSE than the DS3. My biggest complaint is that the sides of the controller were so awkwardly made such that your fingers can't get a good grip on the trigger buttons. That controller was ergonomically made for people with 10" fingers.
