You can just keep your current gen machine which you already have a huge library of games for, spent a considerable amount of time building your gamertag and friends lists on and so on?
Isn't the only reason to upgrade to experience the next gen graphics which should be a huge leap above what the current gen offers?
Isn't it ridiculous and suicidal for a company such as Sony or Microsoft to release the PS4/720 with only marginal hardware upgrades? If they did that then it would make all the sense in the world to keep our current consoles and say screw the next gen.
Actually it's even worse than that. This would make a console such as the Wii/Wii U even more attractive. Hardcore gamers will figure, well we're not getting the upgraded graphics so might as well just go with Nintendo who actually innovates with control schemes and has amazing first party support.
I imagine Sony or MS execs would be wreckless to gamble on an underpowered next gen machine when they know the competition could release an uber console that would destroy them.

You make this protest without even knowing just how far the hardware upgrades on Microsoft's and Sony's next system will be.
Actually i'm not protesting, i'm just wondering if one of the big two hardware players are in danger of making such a costly mistake. I am hoping both of them bring out great next gen machines that live up to and even surpass expectations. But I have a feeling one of the two is going to stumble badly.
