Purgatory at best, depending on how God views my contributions to society. Heaven is reserved for those who wouldn't hurt a fly and are entirely selfless. I don't think I should suffer for eternity, but if that's how God views me, I guess he knows what's best.
I used to be in a similar situation as you where anything I did didn't end up well, and I too had to live up to my brother's name. I made a gradual change but what I found was that the more time I spent occupied, the less my mind would be concentrated on upsetting things. Instead of staring blankly at my TV, I started running and lifting. I started taking more challenging courses. I also picked up a few hobbies. Maybe making your life busier isn't what you need, but I would certainly try it. It's made such an impact on my daily mood.
If you're interested in the medical industry, registered nurses have pretty much recession-proof jobs. You're not going to make much more than 6 figures, which is what my mom is making now, but at least you have job security and LOTS of benefits.
As an employee of McDonald's, I'll have to go with In-and-Out. It's a shame no restaurants are around my area, but they made the best fast food burger I've ever had. I'm not saying McDonald's and BK are bad, I'm just saying my money is better spent elsewhere, even though I get McDonald's for free.
