8 sounds like a more than generous score to me. I've always enjoyed BF multiplayer because it is a lot more interesting than COD. With that said, the SP campaigns continue to get neglected, mostly because their is no money in it like multiplayer via skins, unlocks, and new maps. The game is layered with more microtransactions than trees in a forest. And much of the multiplayer experience suffers from the fact that everything is for sale. This ruined the BF 3 experience for me in the last installment.
You had foul-mouthed racist 12 year olds getting enough allowance to rent out servers since EA saw another opportunity to make more money from stupid gamers. And the suckers defend it because they get "kick" powers over the matches they rent the server on. So if you happen to... I don't know... have more skill... you get booted because they are butthurt. What little servers EA offers are hit and miss. Sometimes they are packed and you can't get in. Other times there is nobody on them. Say what you want about COD, at least they haven't stooped so low as to start selling out server controls to little kids (not yet anyway). Next they are going to start charging you for ammo packs. How many Yachts do these scumbags need before they are finished with raping your wallet after the $60 purchase price? It was bad enough they offered full MP unlock keys to items/weapons for anyone willing to cough up the cash rather than earning it like the rest of it. Ted Turner was once asked how he became a billionaire. His response: "Because people are really, really stupid". EA is no different than Ted Turner.
So as I said before, 8 seems generous to me. This is the flagship property of EA now. And it shows with greed tucked away in every nook and cranny possible.
