@Onden Agreed. Giving it a 6 because it didn't redefine Batman games makes little to no sense. Her review never once sounds like there was ever any enjoyment involved in playing the game.
The Good: Solid Foundation built on the original infrastructure that Rocksteady helped to create. Bigger areas to explore and the ability to see Arkham City before it was walled off into a prison. Everything we love about the previous installments seems intact from cool gadgets to challenge maps.
The Bad: If you are looking for something to redefine the series, you may be disappointed. Most reviews across the web say they got the formula right, but really don't go leaps and bounds beyond this. Now... I don't think that necessarily makes it a bad game. But it is hard to give any game a 10 if it feels more like Arkham City 2.5 than a true successor to the brand.
The Ugly: I think Gamespot's review does not reflect what the majority of the community is saying about this game. The user scores on most sites hover around 8 to 9. Most game critics seem to rank this game 7.5 to 9 too. Sadly, I think Gamespot is just trolling for more responses to sell ads on and build up a good feedbackula show. It's either that, or the reviewer just has unrealistic expectations.
Example:
Carolyn said - "In the absence of new elements, the tried-and-true free-flow combat and predator mechanics feel routine rather than inspired."
--- What were you exactly expecting? They already said it would be. They never announced going in a different direction. What you got is exactly what they said.
Carolyn said - "I had high hopes that this would make investigating crime scenes an involving process that would test my intellect. Unfortunately, it doesn't."
-- AGAIN.. WHAT exactly were you expecting? This isn't the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. It sounds like it does exactly what I thought it would do.
MY SCORE: Arkham Origins is a solid 8 - This review of the game is more like a 4. Keep on trolling Gamespot
MICHAEL BAY PRESENTS... Shootouts, Explosions, and another threat to A'murica. Join the innovative excitement that disregards physics for stellar battles in space. Ride the rails of COD death with man's best friend. And swim with the fishes who pack the most amazing AI ever.
Take boring, add microtransactions, and mix with lots of QTE combat. You will want to bake it 500 degrees. And BAM! plenty of Ryse to serve Xbots at launch.
Propaganda in video games in any country, in any language is a complete and utter travesty. It is sick the things people will do to push agendas on others.
