"I'm excited to announce that Xbox One will launch this November, on 21 markets around the world, at 499$ in the US, 499€ in European market...and 429£ in the UK...", Phil Spencer.
Ok this is gonna be long, so I apologize in advance xD
C'mon guys, we all know the reason why we come to Gamespot is because they're the least "corrupt" major site on the web (all of them are). Their reviewers are competent, and usually make a good job giving out their honest opinions (with exceptions, which i'll get to later).
The reason why theres only a few 10's over here is because this site knows how rare a masterpiece is, and that values the term highly. If very game's a masterpiece (like IGN says), the term loses it's meaning for the sake of pleasing fanboys and making money off of dishonest criticism.
Games have flaws, because we are humans. We are incapable of perfection, and that's why nothing's perfect and we can only aspire to make the best we can. And that applies to games/movies/music, as well as criticism. Gamespot screwed up in many reviews ("Final Fantasy XIII-2" comes to mind) but at least they maintain their respect for high scores and the term "masterpiece".
Tom has become infamous now (HAH! See what I did there? Because it all started with the Infamous 2 review...aahh that's funny, i'm funny =P). Everyone loves to bash him, but the truth is that he's honest, pure, whenever he sees a flaw he's not afraid of pointing it out and he makes some of the greatest articles in Gamespot's recent history ("Welcome to Dark Souls II: You're Already" Dead comes to mind). I never played Infamous 2, so I can't really say how accurate his review can be (at least he explained himself well IMO), but I have no problem with his "Skyward Sword" review and it was my 2nd favorite game of that year. I don't agree with him in certain points, and agree with him on others. Does that mean I call BS on him? HELL NO! He explained himself, and some of his points were the rock truth even if some fanboys refuse to aknowledge. The game's linearity was a step back, and constant backtracking through the same areas, instead of making new ones, made the game feel padded, artificialy long and lazely designed. He still said the game was very good, despite the problems, but that isn't enough OH NO! U MAST GIVZ TEN OR ELSS UR WROONG!...omg xD
And even if you think i'm wrong, and that Tom is full of it...so what? Will that change your opinion? Of course not, because you think for yourself. Now why can't you respect the thoughts of other people? Like Dr. Steve Brule says: "For your health".
I hope you still get to read this essay I call a comment, before it gets buried under the shitstorm of fanboy rage :D
