@videogameninja: I have an obscenely low completion rate but that's because I rent a lot. I used Redbox a ton when it carried games and I still have Gamefly. It's mostly me just trying out stuff I'm 50/50 on, get a few trophies in the early game because they tend to jam one on you immediately after booting it up since Sony's refund policy says you can't refund if you have a trophy, and then it gets sent back when it's not all that great. If the game is good it's a pretty even split between hitting Keep it on Gamefly, finishing it on the rental or putting it on the list to pick up on a deep sale later and sending it back.

There are also still a lot of mom & pop joints that do rentals in the US.

I would bet a BIG part of the disparity is because of that, there aren't similar rental options outside of North America in general. I hear there's still a lot of rentals in Canada too at smaller video/grocery stores, rarely Australia, but I NEVER hear about rentals in Europe or Asia.

There's also things like Gamepass that result in people trying a lot of stuff they don't finish. I imagine now with PlayStation having Extra and Premium with the big libraries of stuff you can try out risk free that completion numbers will go down more too.

@Akriel_Boulve: Dead Island Riptide was an expansion that got so big they released it as a standalone game instead, a fairly common practice, it was never Dead Island 2 except in colloquialisms.

The Anacrusis is trash, it shouldn't have been released in its current state.

Back 4 Blood is pretty solid now, the deck system was revamped and is really fun now, and you can play solo in offline mode and your progression is shared with online, it's a shame it came out in the state it did because it had a great come back and no one knows about it seemingly.

How you gonna call Slime Rancher a First Person Shooter and categorize it alongside Doom and Wolfenstein?

It is a hot new product, afterall!

@blaznwiipspman1: Full size joysticks. You aren't guaranteed to always have a strong enough internet connection if any. Stream based input lag. Customization of settings to get the performance you want or disable the features you dislike. Mods. Emulation. Older titles not available on cloud services. PC exclusive games. Your pre-existing PC library. There's a lot of reasons.

That said, if you're already that iffy about it it may just be that you aren't the target audience.

@duggd1ggler: Conversely, they do sunset content out of Destiny 2. I booted it up when the PS5/XSX version came out wanting to play that intro mission through the burning tower with all its GPU particle sparks and explosions and what not only to find that you now play a bootleg version of the original Destiny's intro on a new character and go to the Cosmodome and stuff to start with instead, literally playing the first dozen hours of Destiny 1.

I keep hearing the changes to team size have had a horrible impact on the game, this sounds like a recipe for disaster.
