Games need to get rid of flashing pickups for one thing. I cannot stand it when an M rated game has blinking fuel cans, and blinking ammo/guns. I think it is pretty safe to assume that someone old enough to play these games doesn't need runway lights pointing them toward the important and useful items. Most of the games that I play have several difficulty level settings, so I don't totally agree with Cliff, but I see what he is getting at. I usually play on normal to start, but if the game is too easy, I'll restart it and play on hard.

I enjoy a challenging game, but not one that has super cheap A.I. that shoots the millisecond you round a corner, or whips and does a 180 flip while shooting you in the face from 300 yards. Just because a game is hard, that doesn't automatically make it more enjoyable. I find games that are challenging because they force you to use tactics or outsmart your enemy are more rewarding than having to have a perfect button/key sequence during a hard part of a game.

I don't think it is worth it really. The first 2 Doom games should be shareware by now, and the 3rd is not worth more than 20 dollars in my opinion even with the added expansions. I still have Doom3 installed on my PC, so maybe it is worth $30 for those that never got to play it, but coming from someone that beat all 3 games, I don't think it warrants a 30 dollar purchase just to see a few graphical tweaks and some new levels.

And the mention at the bottom of the article that eludes to the review of Doom 3, well that was back in 2004. Even with updated graphics, I don't think that Doom 3 would score much higher than 6.5 if it were reviewed today as opposed to 2004.

I think the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament has a lot to do with FIFA12's resurgence.

It is nice to see a separate review for PC for once. It seems like most multiplat games get an XBOX review and that is it. Sure the review may only differ in the 1st paragraph and a couple of other tweaks, but it is still nice to know that the PC gamer hasn't been completely ignored.

@emperiox I wouldn't mind if Michael Madsen got the part. He would make a good Sam too. Though he is probably too old now.

@gix47 I wonder how many people bought the game without knowing there would be an auction house, and on the other hand, I wonder how many bought the game solely because of the auction house.

@LordelX The OLD Mortal Kombat was super violent over 15 years ago. Games back then were only limited by technology. Really, the games would be just as they are now if the technology was present back then. Look at how gory Doom 1 and 2 were in the early 90s. Even Wolf3D was pretty violent for it's time. Everything is just more polished now.

@SHpandaman While it may be an issue, it is hardly limited to games with violence in them. Anybody can get on Xbox live and start trying to lure kids even on E rated games. That is not the issue at hand really, but parents should not be allowing kids to play M rated games in the first place. ESRB ratings are intended to keep parents from buying inappropriate games for their children, but keeping them away from sexual predators is a whole different ball of wax. I am sure there are pedophiles on Club Penguin and the Sims too.

@SHpandaman LOL. SO are you saying that Dateline NBC's series "To Catch a Predator" ought to start looking for Pedos within COD instead of online chatrooms? Wow. If kids are getting their hands on COD, that is bad parenting and is not the fault of the gaming industry. If babies are left playing with a tackle box full of fishing lures, is that the fault of the bait shop that sells them?

@CaptainHerlock That would imply that there are people that only play the PG titles at night with the door shut when nobody is watching because they are ashamed of them. Hiding your PG games like they are porn? I am quite certain that being taken seriously has nothing to do with the games one plays.
