@mlcarter815 Most people don't buy 360s or PS3s for Netflix and whatever else, they only use those features because they are there. Similarly, people don't rush out and buy a Tablet just for the games, they only use it for games since it has that capability. On the other hand, people will buy consoles just for the games.
Maybe if they dropped games back to 49.99-39.99 sales would improve. Sure, there is less revenue per unit, but someone that only buys 3-5 games a year might now buy 6-8. There are too many people that are not willing to spend 60 dollars on mediocre and iffy games. Taking a hit on the price makes the games more accessible and affordable to those that are only mildly interested in a game instead of passing on them and saving for the must have titles. It seems that the industry is going the opposite direction with DLC and micro-transactions, but in this economy, perhaps swaying things the other direction is actually the smarter business move.
At least Karl gets it. There are too many articles these days about mobile and tablet gaming becoming the industry's imminent future. He has it right on the money. While most people will dabble in mobile games, Triple-A games will always have a place in most homes. Even if triple-A titles come to tablets and mobile devices, I would like to think that 40"+ HDtvs and high resolutions on bigger monitors with the latest GPUs will still be the preferred visual platform of most gamers.
As long as the delay is not because they are adding some always online or other crap, I am willing to wait if it means the game is released in a working state.
@IamNick2k11 I think you might be right, but I haven't played the demo just yet. Based on gameplay footage that I have seen, I don't think it is all that great. The story might save the score somewhat, but I don't think it will get any higher than an 8 at best. My first indication that a shooter (be it 1st or 3rd person) is not going to be all that good is the visible vapor trails left by the bullets that seem to go way slower than an actual bullet would. I hate it when you have to steer your vapor trails and lead your target into them. That is a game breaker for me, and that is what it looks like when I see gameplay footage.
@garcia_jx But, I should add that just the fact that those guides existed proves that they were not easy to beat. I laugh when I see strategy guides for single player shooters.
Page 1. Shoot them, and don't get shot...end of guide.
@garcia_jx I would go to the store and read Nintendo Power mag for tactics on how to beat some of the harder fighters in PunchOut. I think I was stuck on the 2nd Bald Bull or something, then read up on the subsequent fights. Took some of the fun out of it, but I think that is another thing that has taken the difficulty out of games is the internet, forums, and walkthroughs.
If I am remembering right, I think there was a strategy guide for RE1 way back when.
