I got all excited about Black Flag when the new consoles launched. And when Watch Dogs didn't make the launch, I picked it up with my PS4.

But once I had it, I barely played it. Not even because it was bad, it just got lost in the shuffle of other games I was more interested in. I never really cared much for the Assassin's Creed games so I'm not invested in the franchise or anything like that.

There are a few things in gaming that are usually pretty cool. Being a Ninja. Shooting a zombie in the face. Shooting a robot in the mechanical face. And, being a Pirate. AC4 is fun, but I've honestly barely put enough time in to recommend it to others. And if it came down to AC4 or InFamous, well I wouldn't need to flip a coin to decide. It'd be InFamous every time.

Anyone picking this up at midnight? I might go and get it.

I was going to, but my store didn't have a midnight launch for the game.

Add me on LIVE if you like. I'll be playing most of tomorrow. :)

I want to say that both KZSF and Infamous should've never been made, but Infamous has around 3 million views for all four of its trailers on youtube which is pretty impressive. I guess people want a new Infamous game.

I say with no hint of hyperbole, that inFamous: Second Son is the game that sold me a Playstation 4. So you can count me among those who are eager for a new chapter in the InFamous franchise. :)

Thinking of picking up an Xone but I may have to wait a few weeks first.

If you do end up getting one, pick up Dead Rising 3 as well. It's good old zombie killing fun.

Yep, I want to play this game.

Are you getting it? Or just interested?

A few of the guys from the off-site VU are picking it up too. Maybe we can all team up some evening. :)

At this point I barely remember what Drive Club even was. That was the one where the guy was just going all orgasmic about car stuff? Rendering individual threads in the seats and all that crap? Or was that "The Crew"?

Meh, whatever. I'll stick to Forza.

Yeah, that's the one. Looks like a sim racer, plays like an arcade racer. (sort of) Basically, a lot like Project Gotham, so naturally I was heavily looking forward to it. This is why I prefer Rockstar's way of handling things. They don't show their new games until they have a very firm idea of when exactly it will be coming out, so none of that making people look at videos and salivate for it for a year(s) or more crap other devs pull off. (Team Ico, looking at you.)

Yeah, I went and looked at the videos from E3 in the interim.

I do remember having quite a bit of fun with Project Gotham back in the day. And I think I played a good Need for Speed game once. So... maybe? There are plenty of racers out every year so if it comes out to good reviews and word-of-mouth then I'll probably look into it. If it never does, I can't say I'll be too deflated over it.

I hope, for the sake of the team working on it, that they can turn it around and get a product out that people enjoy though. I can imagine that a troubled project is probably quite stressful. Wishing luck to the developers on this one. :)

Co-op non-combat is a tough niche to fill.

One could make a case for EA and Maxis' awful Sim City from last year. But as stated, it's kind of awful. However it does fit the criteria as outlined.

Didn't the second Viva Pinata have a co-op mode? Or am I imagining that? It's non-combative at least. :)

Portal 2 as @Byshop mentioned is a good one, but there are the turrets. The player isn't inflicting violence though, so I think it fits your mold.

I have a friend who runs a Gamestop, so I shop at her store. You know, solidarity and whatnot. Plus I live in Fort Worth and Gamestop is essentially a local business here since I could literally drive to their corporate HQ in less than an hour.

That said, I don't particularly care for a lot of the Gamestop model. And I can't say if I'd really even be shopping there if it wasn't in support of a friend. But to her credit, she runs what is widely considered to be one of the -if not THE- best Gamestop in the area. To no big surprise, most of her staff are older and much more knowledgeable than the typical stereotype Gamestop kid on a weekend job. And it helps that they all pretty much know me by name and know that my tastes and preferences are well defined, so there's much less wasted time while an untrained kid tries to tell me I'm wrong for buying a game he doesn't like or that I NEED the latest JRPG or MMO (or any other genre than I just don't play).

Of course if my friend ever leaves Gamestop, I'll likely never go there again. There's a Game Exchange that's actually closer to my house if I want any used games and I'd happily go digital for new releases once both of the new gen systems have external HDD support.

EDIT-Forgot to mention: I buy my PC games from Steam, natch. But also I pick up an occasional Humble Bundle and watch GOG and GMG for deals on stuff I'm interested in but don't want at full price. :)

I'd love to see a return of proper Rally games like they used to make in the Xbox/PS2 days. The DiRT games are fun of course. But they throw in so many other types of racing it feels dilluded.

I'd love it if they could return to the format that they used when the series was called Collin McRae Rally. A limited amount of cars, but highly detailed and intricately modeled with the only true opposition being the terrain of the course you were racing. When you could get a wheel knocked clean off but still try to make it to the checkpoint if you had the stones to go for it. And if you didn't have enough prize money to pay for the repairs, you could DNF and end up losing and having to start over. They were challenging but fantastic. And sometimes it was just plain fun to see how much you could wreck up one of the cars and still limp to the finish line. Those were great fun.

And a game like that, with a singular focus on doing the one thing especially well combined with the technology and HD visuals we have today it could be amazing! Of course DiRT is still great fun and I don't want this to sound like I'm taking those games for granted. I enjoy them. But they are not the grueling Rally Racers of old, that's for sure.
