@ZZoMBiE13: True, but the difference was that Sony was pushing Blu-Ray and Cell. Something that was never done before. They wanted to break into the hardware and make others blow their whistle instead of the other way around this time. Sony wasn't arrogant. They were just stupid. MS was arrogant and tried pushing features and still do onto gamers. Like Kinect which is a gimmick

The entire PS3 launch pretty much defines arrogance. It wreaked of a company in the top spot who felt untouchable.

There is no other way to spin it, Sony were coming off the best selling console in the world and assumed the market would answer to them instead of them answering to the market and it bit them in the ass. Pretty much exactly what's happening to Microsoft right now. MS wanted their all in one bundle and connected digital solution so much that they pushed too hard and the market said "F YOU Buddy".

Overpriced machine? Check. Motion sensing nonsense that no one asked for? Check. Assuming that being on top before would translate to being on top again? Check. Pushing new tech when the market was still unsure and unready to adopt it? Check. The parallels are staggering.

Although I do realize now that I worded the last post slightly wrong. It reads like I'm trying to absolve MS or something. But that's not really the case. To clarify; I'm just saying there's more than one way to look at their reaction to the bad situation (that they created, undeniably) and saying it's impressive how quickly they made changes. But even though I had a lot of fun with my 360, I was as ready to throw MS under the bus as everyone else around E3 time.

I do think it's a bit silly to hold a grudge after they've made strides back toward my favor though. Perhaps "silly" isn't the right term; Let's just say it doesn't work for me. I forgave Sony's foibles and I'll look past MS' as well. Because ultimately, none of them are my buddies. They're just soulless corporate entities that don't consider me anything more than a number on a balance sheet. And I regard them in much the same way. Providers of a platform and little else. I take no joy in their victories nor schadenfreude in their defeats. I want the gaming market healthy because that provides a better situation for the creative side of gaming; the developers who make the games. And the games are really the only thing I am passionate about.

I think youre right about what he meant. However movies like The Godfather, Scarface, Goodfellas, etc are all crime drama films which focus on story rather than action (except for the ending of Scarface). A true GTA movie would be crime action which is something Id really like to see.

What I would LOVE from a GTA movie, is telling the story of a Tommy Vercetti like character, preferably in a period piece. I loved Vice City. It wasn't my favorite GTA because I think San Andreas had better gameplay, but the aesthetic and the tone were all perfect.

I slick version of Vice City up on screen, that's a movie I'd buy a ticket to see. Of course, if I'm being completely self aware, I'd see it no matter what just on name recognition. But if they hit the right notes, I might actually have a good time and not call the producer a douchebag on Twitter. :P

The X1 hate is justified

Well it is and it isn't. Depending on the person. I won't begrudge anyone their opinion of course, they've every right to it.

If you ask me though, I think Microsoft did something I've never seen a big corporation do when they turned around and took back so many of the things people were upset about. If we look at how long it took Sony to even admit that the PS3 had a problem, and their ways of handling things like the Data Hack Incident and the problems with developers having trouble programming for their platform, I think MS did right by taking the feedback they did and doing the things needed to be done in a timely manner.

Microsoft's quick turnaround could be be interpreted multiple ways. I have no illusions that they made the changes they did out of some altruistic desire to appease gamers, the notion is absurd. But rather as a way to fix a busted set of circumstances that they themselves caused. I still think it works to their favor that they made such grand moves so quickly though, regardless of the reasons. But we all KNOW the reasons, 4:1 (or higher) pre-order ratio in strong favor of the opposition.

Of course they're in the business to make money, but that applies to all corporations. Nintendo or Sony or the people who thought OUYA was a good idea, they're all trying to get their product sold in service of building business and making money, yet for some reason Microsoft gets demonized more often for doing essentially the same thing. Admittedly though, the '13 E3 they got the bitch slap they deserved for a severe stumble. But nearly a year on I still see people seething like it was still happening. Not so much here, but on other sites I frequent.

I'm still of a mind that all the platforms have something to offer. Well except the OUYA, obviously.

lol, conker? heck ya. a version for my kids, though. a great bioshock movie would be unbelievable.

a true 3-part or whatever halo movie.

a quick and funny brutal legend movie.

a legitimate elder scrolls game strictly adhering to lore would be loved.

all gta themes have already been done.

Making a Conker movie for kids would ruin the entire concept. Also, please enlighten me about these GTA movies that you speak of.

GTA is largely based on any number of heist films. They borrow heavily from Scarface, Carlito's Way, bits of The Godfather, HEAT, etc. I believe that is what he meant, though I don't mean to put words in someone else's mouth or anything.

On Topic: As always, when these thread get made, I pick Dead Rising. And as much as I don't like Vince Vaughn in most films, I think he'd be a great Frank West. Kinda sleazy? Check. A bit dumpy despite once being kinda fit? Check. Kind of in it for himself? Check.

do i really have to prove msoft won the 360 generation again by adding total households, games sold and other aspects that dictate "winning?"

and, btw, way to ignore the facts about sony's ps3 lead-up, release and following year.

I think you replied to the wrong person friend. I never said otherwise.

I said Sony in 2006 was in a bloodbath (meaning they were getting slaughtered in case you're unfamiliar with the parlance).

I hope all the anti-xbox bots are and were equally as harsh with sony and their playstation 3 screw-ups during its initial stages.

They were, because it did not sell well at all

Yeah, things were bleak for Sony in 2006. It was a bloodbath at retail.

Translation: When you're totally busted, make (very likely empty) promises about how you'll do better in the future.

I'll take that over "We lucked into a great sales run so let's take cheap shots at the opponent who's not doing as well" approach. ;)

Elder Scrolls Online

I like the Elder Scrolls games. Syrim was great fun, I even enjoyed Oblivion, and I like Bethesda despite the bugs and glitches that pop up so often in their games. By and large, I've had great fun with their products.

But I won't be buying the Elder Scrolls Online. I have just never been able to get into any MMO. Don't care for WoW, didn't care for TOR or really any of them. Their gameplay loop is just not compelling to me or my personal tastes.
