Slow week..

Haven't really been reviewing much at all lately, just staying on the listening end without having to put too much thought into things. On the upside I've been living like Jim Morrison and school's almost done :). Haha, but I did manage to get a few albums added to my pile, no massive numbers, but their good ones. -Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath : this is a classic Sabbath album, and even if you don't know much about the band, check this one out, you'll be surprised. -Faith No More - Angel Dust: CHECK OUT THIS RECORD! Really, my review for this one did it no justice, but I tried...it's probably Faith No More's best record, and if I've said before, if you like Korn, Incubus, Chili Peppers, System of A Down (there are far too many to name)than I think you'll like FNM. I've just been trying to hang out as much as possible as the weather's getting nicer lately and scrabbling to get in all my withstanding homework. I have a couple CDs lined up to review once I have some spare time, and that'll hopefully be next week. Oh right, I've been listening to the supposed new Tool album a lot, really getting into it but waiting for the actual disc to come out so I can make sure I didn't fall for a Tool trick. -ZeeDeevel

Apr. 16/2006

Hmm...the week's been...interesting. Haven't really gotten too much work done in the reviewing department, just a little Rush and some odds and ends. Reviews: Rush - Power Windows Opeth - Ghost Revories Rage Against the Machine - Evil Empire Dredg - Catch Without Arms ___________________________________________________ All of these discs were pretty stellar, I'm not gonna pick them apart more than I have in my reviews...check them all out if you're bored. Oh yeah, by the way, have you heard that new Tool song Zug?? I'm impressed, looking forward to this record so friggin much. -ZeeDeevel

Greedy schools

So I guess it's not enough that they had to screw the students around for 3 weeks while they **** for more money, now they gotta give tickets out in places they shouldn't. $35 for parking at my own school while i went to class...that's just sad. Gouge us anyway they can, gotta love it. My weekend is just a hazy memory, so I didn't get around to doing up a blog or many reviews in that time. Being back to school sucks hard now, taking up far too much time. Hmm, let's see...more and more Bloodhound Gang..just diggin' their beats, as simple as the music is. Been getting reaquanted with In Flames...lot's of Rush these days...otherwise my tastes are at a crossroad for a bit..just waiting for the next mood to strike me. I'm checking out the newest Harper disc, sounds pretty slick so far if you're into him. Reviews Iron Maiden - Powerslave Long Beach Dub All Stars - Right Back Rush - 2112 ___________________________________________________ If you're into reggae or like Sublime at all, check out LBDAS forsure; two of the 3 memebers of Sublime are in it, and it's the closest thing you'll find to that sound. Rush's 2112 is an intense listen, and forsure one of their more popular release. -ZeeDeevel

Back to School

Well after jerking me around for 3 weeks my teachers are going back to work, so it's back to school for me. My reviews are probably going to cut down significantly since I have a tonne of catching up to do now. My tastes this week were off the map, a lot of Rage, Rush, and the Bloodhound Gang for some reason. Reviews Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity Pearl Jam - Vs. The Darkness - Permission to Land ___________________________________________________ Rage is the bomb, and their debut record is a friggin masterpiece (Rage fans know what I mean). Finally got around to reviewing that one, didn't do it nearly enough justice. Dream Theater is alright, but I'm not huge into them, so don't get as much as other from the records. Pearl Jam is always sick, just starting to get back into them lately, thought I'd keep the order and do up Vs. The Darkness review happened on a whim and the album is pretty cheesey. Not a fan at all, walked away with a couple tunes though I guess.

Week later...

I guess I'll just do these on Sundays...really only in it for the minor points they might get me, although bein Superfly beats being a Ginsu knife (tv.com). It's been another lazy week of no school and over-partying, but I did manage to squeeze in some reviews along the way. Reviews: Rush - A Farewell to Kings Rush - Signals Oasis - (What's the Story)Morning Glory? System of a Down - Hypnotize Cypress Hill - III: Temple of Boom Faith No More - The Real Thing ___________________________________________________ Rush, as always, kicks ass. For these two though, I'd say that Signals is definitely stronger. I thought I'd go back to my old-school roots with Oasis (jonsin' to hear wonderwall), and I hadn't heard much of new System at all. I was disappointed by that one, they shouldn't have split up those discs. Cypress Hill's record was awful, and I won't say that too often. This is their only record I can't seem to stand.

Gotta love strikes...

Well, thanks to my college being out on strike, I've found myself with a significantly larger amount of spare-time. I figured I spend most of playing, listening to, and rating/reviewing music, which is exactly what I've done. Aside from learning a bunch of new songs (:))I managed to get a lot of new music under my belt. I also did up 5 or so reviews, so if you're bored or interested, check them out. Reviews: Soilwork - Figure Number Five Iron Maiden - Dance of Death Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth Cypress Hill - Stoned Raiders Iced Earth - Burnt Offerings ___________________________________________________ I was most impressed with the Iron Maiden album, it's just amazing for how modern it is. That band isn't slowing down anytime soon. NIN's newest album is pretty good too, a lot of good tunes off that. Burnt Offerings should have honourable mention just cause it's a sick metal disc. -ZeeDeevel

Sat. March 3/06

Hmm...since my last post I hit up an In Flames concert, so I decided to get closer to finishing everything by the band by reviewing "Lunar Strain". I kept with the metal genre for most of my last reviews, and went back to some lighter stuff towards the end. Reviews: In Flames - Lunar Strain Children of Bodom - Hate Crew Deathroll Children of Bodom - Follow the Reaper David Gilmour - On an Island ___________________________________________________ I wasn't too pleased with the latest Gilmour effort, but Bodom rules, so that made up for it. Lunar Strain is decent, but sounds weird without Anders. -ZeeDeevel

More Reviews, little else really

I had some time off of school for a bit, so I wanted to catch up on some reviews. There are still a bunch I have to tackle, but I got about 4 that are finished now...mostly metal, but that's what the others will be when they're done. Reviews: In Flames - The Jester Race (easily one of the bands best albums, an intense sophomore) Cypress Hill - Till Death Do Us Part (incredibly impressive) Demons & Wizards - Demons & Wizards - Touched By the Crimson King (Such a good band) __________________________________________________ That's all of them for now, I'm working at the Bodom ones and another for In Flames latest. -ZeeDeevel

3 More

It's been a while, but I managed to throw together a few more reviews. This ones seem a little out of place for my usual stuff, but good albums for the most part nonetheless. Reviews: Hole - Live Through This Cypress Hill - Black Sunday (One of the best by the group...) 2Pac - All Eyez On Me ___________________________________________________ I'm working on a few more, hopefully a Bodom album and another Cypress forsure...we'll see for the rest. -ZeeDeevel

Let's see if this one works...

Okay, well the last blog didn't go through, hopefully this one won't be a complete waste of time. School's back on so my time has been goin to that and methods of coping with school; as I expected my reviewing suffered first. I've been listening to a lot of new music lately, but no putting whole albums together for reviews. Reviews: -> Ben Harper - Welcome To The Cruel World (This was decent, but has all the signs of a debut album...) -> Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - The Last DJ (A good record despite being new and reflecting some current trends) ___________________________________________________ Other than those I've been listening to a ton of In Flames, which is killer cause I'm seeing them next month. Also a lot of Tom Petty has been gracing my computer, as well as all the old favourites. Hopefully this week I'll get something else done towards the site. -ZeeDeevel
