@Metallicwolf29: You really, REALLY have no idea what you're talking about. Just spouting nonsense to garner attention. How 'bout you go get a cookie or two and a glass of milk and let the adults talk, eh?
@consolehaven: Agreed. Was doubtful before. Then I experienced it for myself. I AM a believer. It's absolutely astonishing how immersive the experience is. If I had the disposable $ for a PC gaming rig to run I wouldn't hesitate.
@Metallicwolf29: "Worth it" is relative. While I myself don;t have the disposable $$ required for a gaming rig, I can say that after experiencing it for myself at a friend's house I can say it is, without question, a "next gen" experience.
@consolehaven: Agreed. Played Eve: Valkyrie on a friend's Occulus. Before that I'd been dubious regarding just how impressive/immersive the experience could be. As someone who has nothing to gain by championing VR (I can't afford the kind gaming PC it requires) all I have to say is
Holy. Crap! It really is an AMAZING experience. Considering how "young" this new generation of VR tech is now, I can't imagine what it will be like 2-3 years from now. As someone who's been gaming for a VERY long time I know that if I did have the disposable income for a PC rig I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one. As far as VR being a fad? Maybe, but in addition to the significant advances in tech, people are (generally) waiting longer to get married, have kids. MEaning more people have the disposable income to spend on VR. And that's just in terms of gaming. This technology has many, many other applications.
