Bring back the cel-shading and the obvious use of Nolan North. Yes PoP08 was dumb easy but it's still the best thing the franchise has had since Sands of Time. Didn't they say they weren't abandoning that reboot? Remember when reboots meant sequels to said reboot?
Wait, wasn't there an implicit agreement between us and DICE that they wouldn't release a numbered Battlefield game until there was a huge shift in graphics technology. Granted the next-gen is right around the corner but all that will do is bring BF on consoles back up to the PC's standards. Was anyone else holding out for a 2142 reboot starring B-company?
@mephisto1138 @Deadly_Nemesis For all its improvements Gears 3 left so many questions unanswered. I think Epic have a great art team but they need to have a chat someday with their writers and do an even better job with Judgement.
@mephisto1138 I am super interested in where 343 take Halo 4. Especially with the Metroid Prime vibe that the footage has going for it. If they can make Master Chief's Halo games as atmospheric as the night sections in ODST it would be a start.
@mephisto1138 Apologies. I'll always have a knee-jerk reaction towards game fiction because I tried reading a halo book back when I was crazy about CE and was brought down to earth sharpish. With regards to Judgement I think it could be interesting, but then Baird is the focus and they'll have to pull off another Cole-thrashball scene to make him likable.
@mephisto1138 I'm sure it is, in the same way the games are entertaining. But if you have to read a book to understand a game's fiction then that just means the developers aren't good at telling stories. I admit Gears 3 was an improvement, but any semblance of character development would be over Gears 2.
@SgtScorpion I'm a "games are art oo Limbo"-type and I agree with Scorpion. Epic are the last people I want putting story in their games. Did you play Gears of War 2? That's what happens when Epic try and make you elicit any emotion other than anger.
