Salty posts that developers actually like GamePass and what it provides them, standing in contrast to your preferred (negative) narrative?

I am shocked.

@mattbbpl: I personally see the Republican party being a little closer .

Lemmie stop you there. You might want to review the prescription on your glasses if you think you see Republicans caring about anything Biblical or Christ-like beyond what they think they can wield as a cudgel in the exercise of feeling special/superior to someone else or celebrate for holiday traditions (quite a few of which were stolen, ironically...well actually that's pretty on-brand).

That's the fundamental problem. Cruelty is the point for too many of the religious right, hidden behind and subsequently perverting the gospel as a result. Modern day pharisees who regularly choose death even for themselves over opportunity, equity and equality. The grip of the illusion of and desperate need to cling to whiteness and its fruit are fascinating to watch play out. People would rather allow for harm to come to themselves and their children rather than recognize that class is their enemy, not women. Not minority groups.

Anyway, none of this should be a surprise for you when discussing the same collection of people that fought -- and continue to fight -- against fundamental rights for minority communities and women instead of encouraging them and accounting for the sins of the past that continue to benefit them. For looking to criminalize poverty (but not those stealing wealth) instead of finding ways to support and assist. Who historically and presently continue to condemn women to all manner of hurt, harm and danger at every opportunity to create new legislation. Who continue to look to attack underrepresented communities whenever they seek a level playing field while looking the other way while the wealthy and privileged continue to laugh at them and use every system to their advantage. Who look to find ways to make your individual voice and vote count for less with ever more aggressive and transparent gerrymandering, which is just a complete affront to the very foundations of democracy. For whom loving the neighbor is a concept to think about and compartmentalize, as it's clearly not meant to be taken literally...right? But I mean, what should we expect of the descendants of slave owners and their apologists. The party of "says one thing, looks the other way while bad things happen to good people so long as we are the beneficiaries."

The Republican party has been racing as fast as it can towards fascism and half the country is a-okay with that as long as they get to continue believing they are special. As long as they can remain "better than" someone somewhere. Such is the allure of fascism for the common man and why it grabbed hold so strongly in post-WWI Germany. Which is demonstrably antithetical to the teachings or walk of Christ. But when has that ever really mattered to your average Republican-adjacent Christian? Hell, even Nazi's believed themselves to be the best of Christians, so simply saying "I'm a Christian" isn't a very good baromoter for legitimate faith. They voted en masse for a woman-assaulting and harassing adulterer and hope for the opportunity to do so again. But you see Republicans closer to Christianity? C'mon, bruh. These are people that hate anyone and anything that doesn't contort to their worldview, which is white and straight. No more, no less. And they demonstrate that hate in all the ways linked above and plenty more. But you already knew that, didn't you.

Simple test: when your opinions start becoming indistinguishable from Al Qaeda, maybe it's time to step back and do some introspection. But given we were the strongest influences of Nazism, even working hand-in-hand on eugenics (1, 2), complete with our own Nazi party and massive rallies, I remain utterly unsurprising by these shifts or rhetoric.

Like, imagine thinking this is about anything other than control and supremacy for these people. All people are asking for is to feel safe and seen for the first time in a long time (since the Dark Ages and colonialism broke everyone's brains).

Once again, I must remind myself that this is a forum of mostly [man]children who have neither looked deeply into these subjects or read any books worthwhile discussing these topics. Hell, if you're American the governments are literally trying to strip reality out of the text books you are or recently read. It's like the German book burnings, but slow and stretched over decades. The affect is the same: people losing touch with the truth, even if it's uncomfortable. But what else should we expect from people who still consider the earth to be literally 6,000 years old (and flat in more cases than we want to admit). The pursuit of truth hasn't been a goal; pursuit of power and control has been.

I hope some of you spend a little time at some of those links. Learn something new you probably didn't know about what we have done and are doing to people. For those who have an ear, let them hear.

The Russian army regularly launches attacks on civilian infrastructure. They already blew up the dam, cutting water levels down and starving the plant, which I'm sure they were aware of. If they were to cause a nuclear catastrophe in Ukraine, it's like using a nuclear weapon, but not. Putin is desperate. His army is garbage and can't score wins on its own without the help of Wagner. He's facing the threat of mutiny. The army is expending ammunition faster than they can produce. He may authorize the destruction of the power plant simply out of spite.

It's certainly possible. But the risks of doing so are great, as other countries are likely to react.

I don't see neighboring countries or the West reacting passively to the intentional destruction of the largest nuclear power plant in western Europe.

that's a lot of categories.

Sometimes the volume of these kinds of awards comes down to the commercial success of a show and given it's been HBO's biggest streaming success to date (and that's saying a lot given the caliber of series' available on HBO's streaming platforms), it was inevitable that they would campaign for and it would receive a lot of nods.

How many it will win is a different story. But I haven't seen the other nominee shows so I can't speak on that. I don't expect it will win any of the big categories (best drama, best actor/actress). But Outstanding Guest Actor? Maybe screenplay? Special effects? I imagine it could win several of those.

It's good that it's slowed down, but it doesn't fix the damage done and vast sums of American wealth that has been transferred to the most wealthy. Wages need to go up.
