They're good drivers. Fix a lot of problems ppl were having with games, but it didn't fix the fan problem.

There's already 8,8 leaked betas out too. Just so you know.

Strifebringer

Oh nice. Well, I hope they decide to address that issue sometime soon.

I was just wondering if these drivers fix the fan problems with the HD 4xxx cards; the only reason I ask is that I have not yet received my new parts, so I cannot find out for myself if these drivers are simply an update, or actually address any of the issues these cards experience every now and then.

ok well im not a computer person so i know basically nothing about computer internals but i just recently purchased Age of Conan (didnt even look at system requirements lol) and after i installed a it and *tryed* to play i was getting 3 fps so i was wondering if i should just buy a new computer cuase or just get some upgrades for my current one heres wat i have right now:

HP Pavilion a767c

Intel Pentium4 520 (P) 2.8 GHz

1gb ram

200 GB hard drive

ATI Radeon x300se:

128MB DDR memory

will appreciate any help :)

The best thing you can do at this point is to get a new computer. Upgrading that thing to play AoC, and other high-end games, would require you to strip your PC. Read around on the forums, ask questions, look at guides, go to NewEgg.com, and set a budget. Then, build it yourself. :D

[QUOTE="aeatyes"]I just hope they release some official drivers soon. =/ matrixian

They already did with 8.7, very stable so far on the games I tried.

I could cry tears of joy.

I just bought the parts for my new PC (first build; did a lot of research/forum browsing), and went with a 4850 as a place holder for now. Thankfully, the mobo I got is built to last (as far as the 775 socket is concerned :P), and is a very nice ASRock X48 DDR2/DDR3 hybrid.

Later on, when I save up some more money, I'll make the jump to an HD 4870X2 or dual HD 4870's, but, for now, a single HD 4850 is more than enough for me, and a very big step up from my old GPU (a pathetic PNY 7900 GS :() ATI's new cards really excite me. :D I just hope they release some official drivers soon. =/

Edit: Getting a 4870 would've put me overbudget :( thus the reason for the 4850 placeholder.

I will say, though, that the VitaChamber resurrect system should've been scrapped because it made things pretty easy

chesterocks7

You can disable that under the game options menu. Lots of people complain about that feature, but it's easily remedied if you don't like it.

Ah, really?! I didn't know that, lol. Well, you learn something everyday. :P

[QUOTE="roulettethedog"]You do know that if you buy a game else where that you can still register it on Steam? You either register the game on Steam or the traditional way, but you can not do both.SpaceMoose

Yes, I knew you could do that with some games. I don't think you can with all of them though. Actually, like I said, some of them you have to register with Steam I think.

For the record, I also think is a load of crap and I seriously hope someone files a class action lawsuit against them for it. I'm pretty sure the boxes to most of the games in question do not say you need an internet connection to play them.

Please, no more lawsuits. That sounds worse than the EU and United States anti-trust BS bananzas that were levelled against Microsoft. Either get competitive, or get the **** out; pansies have no place in business. The only time anti-monoploy/anti-trust suits should be filed against a company is when they get lazy and start churning out crappy products, and even then, they should be brought to bear by the CONSUMERS.

On the bright side, I don't own any games that require me to register via Steam. :) Happy gaming. :D

BioShock is a great game. Overrated? I wouldn't know; I don't watch TV. I just heard about the game online/at Gamestop, thought it looked good, and bought it. It was excellent. The people who say it is overrated bought into the hype, and have none but themselves to blame for any lackings it may have had in their eyes.

I will say, though, that the VitaChamber resurrect system should've been scrapped because it made things pretty easy, still, it was a great game with amazing atmosphere, gameplay, and story.

I have a dreamgame that i think should be loved by most people. Its a first/third person "i dont know what". Think of GTA: San Andreas mixed with The Sims. You can roam free in the city, buy a condo *spelling*, buy a house, get a girl/boy-friend. You can get a job i.e. you're an architekt, than you go to your job and transport in to the buildingscreen like in the sims. You can make any decision you want. Do you want to get a gun and kill everyone in town, you can do that. It's like in the real life. You can buy/steal a car and drive around in the world, but you have to fill it with gas sooner or later. Get friends... You name it!

I know it will be a pretty huge game but atleast i would love it.

Sicsicsix

Sounds like a poorly articulated real world, but without tangible benefits.
