Here are two suggestions, with drastically different approaches (I'm in the same boat as you): Pick ONE game...something that you know you'll be able to get into (Super Paper Mario is a solid game...ain't no shame in this game). Anyway, stick with that game until you finish it. Most new games have good checkpoint systems/save systems, so that you can play for 30 minutes after the kids go to bed a few times a week....and before long, you will devour it. It will feel GREAT to finish a game again. I rarely get to do that anymore, but is is a joy to see the end credits... Word of caution...pick a game that is relatively short to start with (i.e. 6-12 hours)...or even something downloadable (i.e. Journey on PS3, the Walking Dead, etc.). Second option: Only play a game as long as it interests you. Once you have reached a point where you are having a hard time putting that disc in your console...SELL IT. There is no reason to hang on to all of those games if you (and I) know that you aren't going to play it before the next generation of consoles come out. As I'm aging, I am finding myself enjoying more light-hearted experiences...so, I'm taking this approach more than I used to...rent a game through Gamefly, play it until I've hit that "point" and then send it back to try out the next game I'm interested in. I typically buy games that I know I will stick with for a long time (Skyrim, sports games), but otherwise I just consume games in a different manner than I used to.

I've got the PS3 version of the game already, but never did get around to finishing it. Since this game is getting a nice Steam sale today on PC, I thought about picking it up. But, has this game been heavily modded or was it pretty much left alone by the mod community?

Just an FYI....title says it all. DLC is also 75% off. I doubt we'll get it any cheaper on Steam this holiday.

Hadn't heard of it until I read your post. But, I will say..."WOW" . This game intrigued me right from the moment I watched the first trailer. I'm buying it now...but this will have to be a game I play when the kids go to bed. Can't have distractions going on with a story like this. Thanks for the heads-up. Sorry I can't give any impressions yet :-)

I recently have gone the way of OTA HD programming, but the one thing that has been difficult is not being able to watch my local MLB team on the tube. I thought about the possibility of being able to watch them at least occasionally through the ESPN app on the 360. But, alas, I go to watch the game and it says it cannot be viewed in my area (due to blackout, I assume). Is there any way around this? I saw a "location" or "locale" option in the system settings, but it just allows you to change the country, not just the state or city you live in. Any ideas...besides "get cable" ;-)

Do you live in an area where over the air HD channels will come in with an antenna? I just dropped my cable and installed an outdoor antenna and have plenty of super high quality HD channels. Still doesn't require a 1080p tv...but I agree with everyone else, spend the extra money and get a 1080p set. The content that comes in 1080p just seems to be picking up steam. In a year or two, it will be much more common. You KNOW the next systems from Sony and Microsoft will be native 1080p.

That's not surprising. The pixel density between 720p and 1080p isn't drastic enough when comparing a small tv to a large tv....so, they will look similar, if not more crisp on the smaller tv. Most games run at 720p or 1080i anyway...not 1080p I believe. I know there are some games that run natively at 1080p, but I didn't think this was the norm on 360. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but I thought that was the case. Anyway, if the picture looks BAD on your larger TV, then maybe it is an issue with the TV....bc it should still look pretty darn good! What tv do you have? Connected via HDMI?

For Batman eh? My xbox controller worked amazing for that game. The vibration feedback during fights really enhances the experience.

Agreed. I still think the gamepad is better (if it's a quality one like the 360 controller) for some types of games for some people...especially if you've spent your whole life gaming on a console. I'd invest in a wired 360 controller. It's not that K/M controls are inferior for these games, it just comes down to comfort level and ease to get into the game.

What about Torchlight? The problem you will run into is that you are going to have to run some pretty basic things if you are playing on a laptop. But, I guess you are also saying you don't care about graphics, so you wouldn't mind older games. What about Indigo Prophecy? That had a great story and has pretty basic controls. Just a lot of "quick-time events". I didn't play many older RPGs, so I can't speak to the difficulty level of them. I'm assuming old Bioware games would be too cumbersome in terms of navigating menus and all of the stat-building components??? I don't know if they would qualify as "easy" to you or not, but definitely well-made!

[QUOTE="Raiko101"]That really depends on if you're interested in Resident Evil and Cave Story 3D as there's little else out there that i'm interested in buying over the summer. Ocarina of Time is definately worth owning, but it'll likely remain the consoles strongest game until nearer christmas when, hopefully, we should have a new Mario Kart and Super Mario 3D, at the very least. The eShop will have bulked up a little by then too, I would imagine.Ovirew
I'm excited for Cave Story 3D too, and I know a lot of people want that Resident Evil game, but there are a few other notable games coming out between now and the Holidays. Crush 3D is a platformer where you can 'turn' the level to look at it in different ways, kind of like in Super Paper Mario, to find your way around the level. It hasn't gotten as much attention as I thought it would, but the 3DS version of the game is looking much better than the PSP one. It comes out in early September. There's a new game called James Noir's Hollywood Crimes coming out... In either August or September, I can't remember now. The game looks a little like 999 or the Hotel Dusk and Trace Memory games, so some people might be interested in that too. And StarFox 64 3D is supposed to be out in September I believe, the only other 1st/2nd party release until the Holidays I think. So if people keep their eyes peeled between now and the end of the year, they might find some other games they'd be interested in.

I had no idea Crush was coming out for 3DS! Great news! That game was awesome before...very unique. It will really, really benefit from a 3D display I bet. Very excited for this one. Thanks for the heads-up!
