DQ is very popular in Japan. But I don't think dqmj is more popular than pokemon even in japan. Not to say in American. However, I like DQ series so much so I'd vote DQM...DQ is the best RPG to me. I am not here recommending everybody this game, because I know that very few of people like the style of it.
I am a super DQ fan. Let me tell you what. DqIV on DS is much easier than its original version back then on FC. So, don't worry. The mosters are weaker. It takes less time to levelup. People who don't like hard games can also enjoy this game. The storyline is really simple(compared with FF) but it makes you feel comfortable. This series is DAMN popular in Japan. I can't simply tell why this game is amazing, but my feelings won't lie.
dude the graphics are much better! And the job system is simple and clean. The game speed is faster. The music effects are better. It looks the same as FFTA at the 1st glance but trust me it's better
