Montoya was ok, but he disappointed everybody with his reckless driving, many F1 fans (inclduing me) thought that he had a lot of potential, but apparently he didn't!

The high standard that Ferrari brought into F1, especially after 2004, was a major incentive for teams like Renault to work harder for a better car and even win championships, and they proved that Ferrari are beatable after all.
