Ah, whoops, my bad.

Do you need any details from me or have any design questions?

You walk north. You think. Until you reach a wall. Then you hit the wall with your face.

The wall doesn't care.

Simultaneous moves? For the chess game? I don't think that's possible. If two players both try to land on the same square, you reach an impasse.

Also, it's a 4 player game.

You eat the mail. It tastes like spam. And papercuts.

Spreadsheet is pretty much what we were doing before.

Absolutely, if you can get people on at the same time, all the better, but sometimes it doesn't work. If it's possible to add that persistant stuff later then you can put it on the low priority list.

Anyway, it's up to you if you want to go with that idea or try to figure out something else, but having a design you already know works does make things easier.

Well, to me, enforcing the rules is kind of the point of a software version, so that players don't have to worry about it. It also allows for features like simple random ai to fill places, since it's not really a two player game.

if we wanted to be really lazy, I realized something. If what we want is a platform for multiple people moving small images over a larger one that persists, we could use GoogleDocs.

Yeah, I was just using that term incorrectly.

If you want something even simpler, you could do 4 player Rock/paper/scissors.

Umm, if a couple of chess rules are too much effort to bother coding properly, then what's going to happen when we try a more complicated game?

Play-by-mail would be a nice feature. Once the game works =)

.......In a sudden surge of shame over your attempt to subjegate the free ponies, you commit hari-kari.

You are in a boring room.

I would be happy to work with you to design something. And 2D is fine, though I do have an idea for a 3D class-based shooter using basic geometric shapes like cubes and spheres as different classes.

All we need is an idea that's workable. Something fun and simple enough that we might actually finish it.

EDIT: Actually, you remember that Knights, Rooks, Bishops game? Do that. Should be easy enough as a practice run, and if that works out, then we can move on to something more complicated.
