The one before we go...

So I guess this is kind of my last chance to use this space to write something to you. I still don't really get why we had to get there, but there's probably something exciting new on its way. At least I hope so...

So I'd love to write how much I fell in love with Community after resisting for so long #sixseasonsandamovie, about all the returning summer shows that make the wait for the new season so much easier, but why even bother now that it will be gone soon. And we do have our Facebook refuge for that now :)...

So let me take a last chance to say thank you to all of you I got to know here. Thanks for the fun, moral support, love, nonsense (Ronald McDonald), all these conversations... Just think about it, we live all around the world, but still we found a place to get to know each other and become friends. I think that's some of the things this place made it unique in my eyes.

Thank you!

You know where to find me...

Looking back at tv season 2011/2012

Wow, it's already that time again. Tv season 2011/2012 is almost over, and all our beloved friends prepare for their best finale moments. I thought I share a few of my impressions with you, about the good, the bad, the disappointing and surprising moments of TV (or something like that ;))...

(in no particular order)

Once Upon A Time

So this year was time to let the fairytale world come to live and Once Upon A Time took the Disneyworld road. To be honest, I'm not the Disneyworld kinda type and I've got the pictures to prove it ;)... Why did I turn in? I guess Jennifer Morrison did her part, I really liked her on House and the pilot turned out to be actually pretty good. The story: the Evil Queen uses a curse to transfer the fairytale characters into our world where they can't find happiness anymore. These characters don't remember where they came from or who they really are, they live their lives in Storybrooke, they can't leave nor do they age. However, the child of Snow White and Prince Charming could be their rescue and when this child Emma comes to Storybrooke 28 years after the curse was spelled, things are set in motion...

Fortunately, despite my fears, this show turned out not to be like a Disneyland visit, they do dark, not just pink and sparkles (though there was this horrible fairy outfit!). Once Upon A Time definitely knows how to tell intriguing stories, but they had their misses as well. I'm still shivering when I think about that debacle they named "Dreamy," one of the worst love stories I've seen and quite honestly I still don't know what the message was. I'm just not a fan of filler episodes, and in the middle of its run I thought Once Upon A Time was losing its way. However, I think they are back on track and especially the last episode "Stranger" has been great, but what wrong could Eion Bailey do? Exactly, more of that, please. And please let Emma lose some hair! One person shouldn't wear that much extensions!

Ringer

Oh well, that was messy... I should have known because I don't like trashy soaps, but Sarah Michelle Gellar was headlining the project. And there was just not enough imagination on my part to be able to realize what some ambitious writers would make of a show and its logline "twin sister takes over her sister's life." Seriously, that was just really bad writing, they killed it. Characters: incoherent! At least you could tell if someone was bad when he/she was looking sinister, the next episode there would be Good Andrew though. Twists and turns wherever you looked and funny enough, this show became so predictable in its unpredictability. And this show was so much not about a someone taking over her sister's life as it could have been. Because everyone was always immediately filling Bridget in when she just couldn't remember what she (well, Siobhan) had been like a few weeks prior to the switch. Exactly no one wondered about Siobhan's sudden new character. Not her husband, her stepdaughter, her best friend, her lover, etc... Yep, that was ridiculous at best. Well, fare well, Ringer, I don't think you will make it to season 2, there was just not the audience for this mess. And even if, I certainly won't waste any more time on this!

Alcatraz

Do you still remember this J.J. Abrams show that took the mystery out of the mystery show? Seriously, I'm pretty sure this was an experiment whether you could drag out the story of a pilot and put it into 13 episodes. To cut right to the chase: No, you can't. So this was really boring television. And no mystery! Let me remind you, this was supposed to be a mystery show! But no, there was just an inmate every week that came back and killed people. As violent as possible. Who knows why... At this point I don't even think the masterminds behind this show knew... Why did they came back? And how? Well, non of the investigators cared, so the viewers just kept screaming at the tv: come on, do something, be interesting, ask why your grandfather has come back from the dead and past or something like that and looks younger than you! Yes, I'm talking to you, Blondie! Ok, that was maybe just me, but you get the idea. And the finale was the worst possible... Read the reviews and you will see it. A massive waste of time.
The fate of this show is still kind of in the air, but I doubt it will come back to haunt us more. And even Fox is out of its mind and has nothing else to fill a Friday night slot or so, I certainly won't tune in!

How I met your Mother

So far, I talked about freshman shows, but there are also the ones we follow year after year. I really love watching comedies, most of the time I want to switch my brain off at the end of day and just laugh a little. How I met your Mother was definitely one of the funniest shows I've seen. In season 1 to 3 or so. Oh well, what happened there?
Maybe there just came of few comedies along that took over their spot in my hitlist. You have to reevaluate these things when new competition arrives. And this year spit out some really great comedies (we will get there). However, after following this season I realized this show is failing for me because of its selfmade mother problem. We are at a point, Ted should already know the mother of his children (they know a pregnancy does usually lasts about 40 weeks?). And yet, they've postponed the introduction, planted red herrings, fouled us more than once or ten times... It's the playing with me as viewer that makes me angry. Why make promises when you don't keep them? There are two episodes left and they promised to show us Barney's bride and hinted that Ted will meet his wife at that wedding. But will we? I mean will we see her? The problem is in the detail and no one said: Ted will meet his future wife and you will actually see her in this episode. Yep, that's the way this show works. And we will keep going and going and in the meantime the characters will get more and more irritable and I will keep losing my faith and patience. Just end here, will you? (Yes, I know this show was already renewed last year for yet another year, but I'm at a point I will just give up).

So, this was part one, more to follow (I'm hungry Wink). I'd love to hear your point of views :)!

Happy 2012!

Hope you all greeted 2012 properly and had a wonderful time :).
I wish all of you the best for the New Year :)!!

Number Four

I just realized it's been four years ince I joined this site. Okay, time obviously flew by, but I loved every minute of it! It's been not only a place I would go to find information about my favorite shows, but where I could find good friends that would listen to me (and still do every day). And that's something I'm really grateful for :).

In other news, nothing important happened today, look, they slept through it

Take care everyone, and let's start another year :)

Anybody out there?

I just realized my tv.com contacts seem to have become quite mum, and then I realized I haven't blogged in a while as well. Ok, that's something I can change...

To be honest, I wanted to post some new pics of my cats doing awesome stuff 'cause they do awesome stuff all day long. You might remember I adopted a little one back last year because the other one seemed to need a feline friend. Well, first off, that little one is becoming quite a monster, you can actually watch him grow ... He should be about 6/7 months now, but Olle is already bigger than Wickie. And it's totally my fault to think he would not get that big, because his paws were huge when I brought him home, and to be honest, they still are! One day, I will get home and my cat, happy to see me, will stand up and put his paws on my shoulders, just like that .. On the another note, Wickie is still the boss ;)... You should see them hunt together, the death toll has risen around here. I'm just trying to keep the two well-fed around here, otherwise they will probably eat me in my sleep ;)...

Ok, pictures to be posted later, my computer hates me right now! (A few weeks ago, my laptop gave up and I had to switch to my old one. This one is quite a touchy one and trying to drive me insane. Today, no pictures ...)

Well, I hope you are all alright and safe and feeling well and I hope to see you around :)

Drum pruefe, wer sich ewig bindet...

I took the liberty to lend Schiller's word for the title because they just fit so nicely.

God, I'm glad this week is over, it was a bit more excitement than I had anticipated... I never thought I would have to help a friend get her stuff out of her house to get away from her husband...

A few weeks ago, she came to me because she needed some help. Her husband was trapped in a deep depression and checked himself into a hospital. They didn't want to know anyone else so I stepped in a few times when she needed someone to look after her two young daughters or to take care of her guinea pigs while she was out of town. A few times she just called because she needed to get some things of her chest. I know these times can be so damn difficult so I told her to come back to me if there was anything I could do.

On Wednesday, she called me on my way home and asked if I had some moving boxes for her because she had a few hours to get out of her home. Apparently, the situation had escalated and a few boxes wouldn't help much, so I told her I'd come to her and help her deal with the mess she was in. Well, I wasn't really prepared for that. Her husband had been on suicide watch a few days, but now his doctors thought he was well enough to leave the clinic every day for a few hours. This time he used to terrorize his wife and kids. For once he terminated their relationship out of the blue, but kept coming back. He threatened her to take their kids away and to burn their house down. He also mentioned he would kill the neighbors if he got a chance and reminded his wife of a previous incident where he got his hands on a weapon and nearly killed someone...

She was terrified and called his doctor. She didn't recognize her husband anymore and was looking for some help. His doctor shut her down immediately and just reminded her that he was not allowed to talk to her behind her husband's back. Apparently, he didn't share her fears and just suggested to call the police if she felt threatened or to go to a women's shelter. The worst: he also told her he would inform her husband about the call. She knew he would pack his stuff immediately and come back home, very angry and out of control. However, she convinced the doctor to wait that day so she had some time to get her stuff out of the house and to leave.

Well, that's when she called me. At first I thought she just wanted to take some stuff for a few days, but for the next few hours we packed everything she wanted to keep for herself and her daughters. Two other friends joined us a little later to bring more boxes and help pack her belongings. Four years to fill your house with all your stuff and four hours to grab everything you want to keep. I think she was not sure if her husband would burn the house down eventually or not let her go back in... I've moved, I helped others move, but I've never done something exhausting like that (or nearly like that, it's in my top ten I guess ;)). We brought her stuff to my house. There's enough space and since we're neighbors it wasn't far away. I think I've got about 20 boxes standing around here. At some point, she got everything she wanted to keep and she left the house for good...

Today, she called me again. She went back to her parents for now and she will stay there, find an apartment for herself and her daughters and start a new life. She admitted to me that her husband has been terrorizing her for ten years now and it was time to leave. Now or never...

Meanwhile, her husband was sent to the closed ward after his doctor talked to him adn he learned that his wife left him. They think he could harm his family at this point. He did block her account and locked her out of their home (she doesn't want to go back anyways). He still talks about taking the kids away from her (yeah, idiot, you are in a closed ward, good luck  ). For now I'm holding her stuff until she needs it and we hope no one noticed where we brought it (after all there are some idiot neighbors who could think they have to do the "right" thing and tell her husband about it). Otherwise, I'm also taking care of her guinea pigs. Right now, they are in their garden, but I will take them here as soon as possible. Her husband could be home within a week and I'm not looking forward to meeting him. Especially, if he's looking for someone to blame ;) and I'm absolutely clueless about how to deal with a psychopath ...

Ok, that's it for now, I wish you all a nice weekend and thanks for reading and commenting and whatever :)

P.S.: in case I don't come back: blame the neighbor ;)

What do you mean, it happened again?

Woohoo, how much did I miss you*? *Insert your favorite show here...

Busy Thursday, I guess. Don't you know that there more days to fill with decent amusement as well? So I broke my own resolution to enjoy one show a day this season and peeped into the season premieres of The Mentalist, The Big Bang Theory and 30 Rock. Wow, they all came back with pretty decent season openers...

I'm not sure if I was really unhappy with season 4 of 30 Rock, it made me still laugh, but the first episode of season 5 did definitely everything right. I loved seeing Matt Damon again as Liz Lemon's boyfriend. And these pictures Pete's children painted for him ...
(For everyone who didn't see it: that were all kinds of disturbing kill fantasies!)

I love The Mentalist because I love Patrick Jane (Simon Baker). He is a deeply troubled character, but there is this little boy charme (his hair and smile :D)... He's a survivor of an horrible killer that took his wife and child (and blamed him), but there's always this deep sorrow even if he smiles. He's driven by revenge, and then there are these little steps to live a life without Red John... I love the fact that he speaks his mind and tells somebody to his face if he thinks that person lies or if he doesn't like that person. There is so much pretend and lies and in case you are not a pathological liar, your face will tell anyways, so why bother? A keen observer can tell... That being said, I loved the new episode!

And then there was The Big Bang Theory... One of the best comedies on air! Sheldon: best character ever! The way he "laughs"... Oh please, let him never procreate, his highly intelligent offspring would be the end of the world we know ...So glad to see Mayim Bialik as Sheldon's girlfriend again! And please tell me, how can you get your penis stuck twice in a Robot hand :lol:... on a second thought: better not!

See Bea, told you I would be a little more communicative and everyone else: Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great weekend :)!

My Bat and my Owl

Wow, it's been quite a while! Well, I guess every now and then real life just gets in the way ;). I guess I never introduced you to my little roommates, so here it is.

First off, I admit, I'm a cat person. When I was little, there was never a place at home for a pet because of my sister's allergy. About a year ago, a friend of mine remembered that I told her about it. At that time she was still looking for a new home for a baby cat. She and her little family had moved a few months before. They didn't know that the previous house owner had left his cat, and one day this cat claimed her previous living place and soon later gave birth to four kittens. They tried to find new homes for the babies, but there was this one baby cat that was always behaving badly when someone came around to take a look. That's when my friend remembered me because she knew I would love to give this little troublemaker a new home.

So that's when Wickie came to me. And she turned out to be the most adorable cat :). Here she is:

A few weeks ago I decided to get her a little friend. No matter how much time you spend with your pet, there are just things you can't do. She tried to teach me to climb a tree, or catch a mouse, hunt rabbits, well, I miserably failed ...
So I visited the local animal shelter because I wanted a cat that no one else wanted. It was kind of horrofying. I'm not talking about the animals, they were well taken care of at that place and while talking to the people around I knew they were really interested in their well-being :). That day I saw so many baby cats that people had just thrown away :(. Most of these people were not even decent enough to bring them to the animal shelter, they just left them somewhere to be found or to die. Well, this little guy was lucky because I immediately fell in love when I saw him:

And once again I managed to bring a little devil into my house ... I guess that's the way a healthy baby cat is supposed to be! By the way, that's exactly the way he looks when he's about to make trouble:

The first two weeks were challenging, I guess any little being can make a lot of fuss, but Wickie and Olle (that's the name I gave the little one) also had to get used to each other. The first days Wickie even refused to enter the house because of the addition to our family, but Olle didn't give up, came close to her whenever possible and blinked which is a cat's way of smiling and saying: I'm a nice guy and won't hurt you :). After these days, the little one was accepted and today the two are best friends. I guess it won't take much longer and the two will hunt together :)

(yes, they are looking at their prey ;))

That's it for now :). Let me add that these pictures were pretty difficult to take because my camera makes noises and blinks in different colors. Try getting pictures of cats or little kids without them aiming for the camera ....

Hope you have a nice weekend!
