no it doesn't sound like that at all. Don't have gold, you can play on live if you're on your friends x1 or if he's on yours. only one system, or one tag linked to gold is needed to use it's services.

true, just bought my panasonic plasma and I love it. It wasn't the top of the line one, but for $500, it's amazing.

then the problem is not MS, the problem is you need to upgrade. Or you could just buy gold and enjoy all the benefits that come with it. You could play with friends in closed matches and avoid the people you don't like.

This comes down to your choice, not ms forcing you into something.
