What's childish abou the style of Halo 3?

That the aliens scream stuff like "now we're fu..." in smurf-like voices for example.

I'm only talking about the single player experience, though.

About your second sentence: In my opinion you'd have a Final Fantasy game that plays like a current Final Fantasy movie. Just watch ACC and then tell me if you can play this kind of action in a FF game....and wether it wouldn't be cool playing such action sequences like the motorbike-scene on your console.

Mine would have to be Halo 3 with the release of the Mythic Map Pack got me reinterested...

kieren_h

Somehow I wasn't that happy with the "childish" style Halo 3 has....

but back to your question: right now my favourite game is Devil May Cry 4.

The story and cutscenes alone are worth it and would be good material for a Anime. It's like playing an action Anime movie with absolutely over-the-top moves and enough style for 2 games. The way you move and fight in this game is something I'd like to see in a Final Fantasy game. I mean, the FF movies are packed with top-notch action but the games are all about round-bases RPG fights which are quite boring compared to the movie-action.....use the fighting from Devil May Cry, bring in some motorbikes and other vehicles and you'd have a perfect Final Fantasy game.

But apart from that: Devil May Cry is a must for every player who likes action.

Hi,

does anyone know whether there's an action game on the "upcoming releases for the 360 horizon" that's mainly about fighting without weapons? Something like a "next gen Streets of Rage" or a game like "Target: Renegade" back in the C64 days where you could kick guys from their motorcycles and stuff...

I know and like Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry and that kind of games but for once I would like to see a "3D karate action story game" on next gen consoles....is anything like that in sight?

Definitely one of my favourite gaming-moments where:

- when my former girlfriend asked me "would you please play through Resident Evil? I would like to watch" ---> she watched 3-4 hours, then fell asleep. But that was more than acceptable:)

- when the same girlfriend practiced Tekken (PS1) so long that she actually managed to beat me.

Hey guys,

I play Ninja Gaiden 2 these days and get a lot of slowdowns - even with the latest patch. Everytime fire comes into play (in stage 2 for example) and I have to fight some opponents, the game slows down.

And then of course there's that "stage 14 problem" when you have the patch installed.

Does anyone know whether Tecmo is planning to release a new patch soon? Is there a Team Ninja blog or something similar?

The game seems to be another of those "released too early" victims...and now that Tomonobu Itagaki is gone, I kind of have the feeling that Ninja Gaiden will stay an uncomplete product.

Well you should never have high expectations for anything. Nothing is ever as good as you imagine it. That is why I try to be cautiously optimistic. That way I won't be too let down when reality sets in.

Yeah, of course they are opinions, but if a game gets more than 90% from every magazine you can find you tend to think "OK - this has to be a good game that is a lot of fun".

I also agree with the comments about "videogames should be about good ideas and not hi-res graphics" - if you play some of the old games which stood out for their ideas and concept, you'll find what's missing in today's videogame-world. There's too much "conserving the same old thing again".

GTA is just one example of many. It seems to me that from my personal taste I always have to reduce the magazine ratings by 10-15% so they fit my opinion.

Hey guys,

I wanted to discuss something with you I was thinking about lately. I've played a lot of XBOX, XBOX360 and PS3 games in the past months and realized that somehow I seem to have unrealistic high expectations of videogames.

I always read a lot of reviews about a game before I try it out and mostly only play games with a rating of 8 of 10 points minimum. But even games which were praised everywhere mostly don't convince me completely. Take GTA for example. GTA4 is certainly a good game but while playing through it I found a lot of things that disturbed me....a story that doesn't thrill you as much as you hoped, characters that are often over-stereotyped, cutscenes which get boring with time, missions you have to replay from the beginning (which often means driving to the destination again and again instead of starting in front of the destination building), etc.

GTA is a milestone, but in my opinion this game would deserve 85 - 90% at most, because there are many small details that blur the whole experience.

At the same time most games which are averagely rated "good" (80-85%) don't convince me, at all. It seems that only games with at least 9 of 10 points can appeal to me and be fun for more than just a few hours.

What is your opinion about this?

Hi,

does anyone of you use a TFT with YUV input to play XBOX1 games on their XBOX 360?

I'm asking because I just bought some XBOX1 games some days ago (Psychonauts, SSX3, ...) and now I found out, that many XBOX1 games don't work in PAL/60Hz mode but only in 50Hz. But 50Hz is only supported if you connect an analogue cable to your XBOX360, not with the VGA or HDMI/DVI cable. I've connected my XBOX 360 to a Samsung BW205 TFT by a HDMI/DVI cable, so the XBOX 360 can only run in 60Hz on this display.

As far as I see, the only options I have are the following:

- Get a converter, which converts the YUV signal to my TFT --> much too expensive

- Get another monitor with an additional YUV input, the ASUS Pw201 for example: http://www.netzwelt.de/gallery/picture/asus-pw201-im-test-flachbildschirm-fuer-designverliebte/asus_pw201_test_07.jpg

And now my question: Does anyone of you use such a configuration to play XBOX1 games on their XBOX 360? Does it work?

Hi,

do you guys know whether "XBOX game bundle" discs work on the XBOX 360 if the contained games are supported?

This disc for example:

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/driving/segagt2002jsrfjetsetradiofuture/index.html?tag=tabs;summary

http://www.amazon.com/Sega-2002-Radio-Future-JSRF/dp/B000MMUOVQ

Both games are on the XBOX 360 backward compatibility list, but will such a "bundle disc" also work with the XBOX emulator on the 360?
