Battle Field: Bad Company is OK, but for me it's still "a normal First Person Shooter", only packed with a bit of humor, but basically the same as COD4 to me. I'm also not that much into First Person Shooters.

GTA is a great game, but also nothing new, especially if you played previous installations of it. The Orange Box (besides Portal) surely contains some great FPS, but unfortunately I'm not that of a FPS guy...

And Portal is only available on the Orange Box, right?

Oblivion could be interesting, I'll have a look at it.

Psychonauts is something I'll definitely check out.

Maybe there are some XBOX1 games you could suggest? I mean, there are a lot of games on the XBOX compatibility list from Microsoft:

What I found the last days was "Mr. Moskeeto" on PS2 - now that's an extraordinary game :D Unfortunately not available on XBOX.

Hey guys, thanks for your answers so far. But it seems that you misunderstood me, with "extraordinary" I meant "uncommon games", games with extraordinary ideas and gameplay, games that "diverge from the norm".

Most of the games you guys mentioned were just big hits on the console but no "special games" with extraordinary ideas.

What I meant were games like "Psychonauts" on XBOX or some of the good old Amiga and C64 games when we had much more variety in games than nowadays.

I mean Gears of War and GTA and Bioshock are great games, but that's not what I'm looking for.

For example: I played Call of Duty 4 the last days and thought "yeah, it looks nice, but basically it's just the same game it was in Call of Duty 1, 2 and 3. Just the same idea packed in new clothing". And what I'm looking for are "new ideas", "diversity", maybe even some humor, something "apart from the norm".....:)

Hi,

do you guys know some "extraordinary" XBOX 360 games?
I'm looking for games which stand out of the big "just conserve the same idea again with more realistic graphics" mass of games. Something like "Psychonauts" for XBOX, "A rockstar ate my hamster" for Amiga and also "Dead Rising" for XBOX 360.

Thanks for your input guys.

The ps3 isn't necessarily made out of higher quality parts. It's about design, expertise and time spent on testing. Microsoft basically rushed out their product to get a head start. The ps3 is expensive because of the bluray drive, hard disk, wifi, and HDMI outputs which the 360 standard package has none of. If you look at it logically, the 360 consists of simpler components, things that are tried and true, unlike the 'very uncommercial' bluray drive which just entered the beginning of it's life cycle. The 360 has less reason to break down, and yet it does.

Well I had a PS3 here for some weeks and compared it directly to the XBOX and in my opinion everything(!) about the PS3 feels of superior build-quality. The cables, the connectors and their layout on the back, the housing, the drive (which is much more silent than that of the XBOX - just everything. On the other hand, you have certain disadvantages with the PS3 regarding the costs and games.

So in the end you always learn: There's nothing perfect out there. Just make the best out of what you have / can get for your money and use your time wisely.

I think we can agree on one point: Top Spin 3 is the best tennis game currently available.

I definitely like the direction TS is going and as I pointed out I think TS 4 will be much better (If they stay on that road). I also noticed that the player animations often look as if the players were "floating" over the court between steps.

i just mentioned my background cause you automatically assumed that none of us plays tennis.

anyway, for me it's the game pace and the responsiveness when moving your player, yes. you can spectate the same when playing fifa 08 for example. when you turn directions in top spin 3 there's always a "delay in movement" as you have it in fifa 08 which gives the whole gameplay a certain unrealistic touch. (that's also why EA fixed it partially in Uefa 2008 and declared to improve it even more in fifa 09)
I expect Top Spin 4 to improve this issue, cause in my opinion this kind of "delayed player movement behaviour" is far away from reality.

first of all ignore everyone who says topspin 3 is slow.

Just watch some matches at Wimbledon, then play Top Spin 3 and tell me afterwards whether the game is slower than real tennis or not.

P.S.: I was a semi-professional tennis-player for many years, now in "retirement" as coach.

P.S.: You somehow could compare Top Spin 2 and 3 to PES and Fifa 08. If you played PES 6 and then Fifa 08 you'll think "my god - how slow is the game and how slow do the players respond to my button clicks?". I had the exact same experience with Top Spin 3 at the beginning.

Hi,

I have both Top SPin 2 and 3 and they are very(!) different in terms of gameplay. Top Spin 3 is much slower and the responsiveness of the players is also worse than in Top Spin 2, meaning you always have to "plan where to run next". Spontaneous actions aren't welcome in Top Spin 3, you strategically have to plan exactly where to run next and where to hit the ball. You also have to stand much(!) better to the ball to hit it right. The power bar we know from Top Spin 2 when serving or hitting a risk shot is completely gone, now it's all about standing perfectly(!) to the ball and hitting it at the right moment. So you'll have a lot of time getting used to Top Spin 3 if you played Top Spin 2 before and you'll also be turned of by the slow tempo of the game. It's not about "action" anymore, it's about "simulating the sport"....but in my opinion, Top Spin 3 plays a lot slower than real professional tennis and even Boris Becker didn't move that slow and unflexible on the court.

Top Spin 2 on the other hand also was far from perfection, so I think Top Spin 3 is better than part 2 but is still not quite there.

Apart from that the graphics are really nice and how some classic players (like Boris Becker for example) are animated is quite realistic.
