I liked this article, it's a good summary of all the news and happenings regarding Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 that's been circling around the net lately. A lot of it's not new to me, but to someone not more closely in the loop, I'm sure it'd be helpful.
That said, I'd like to say that until Diablo 3's released, we won't know how big it'll be. Given that this is a Blizzard product, it'll probably be very big to huge if you ask me. I've already purchased Diablo 3 as part of the World of Warcraft annual pass promotion. The stress test/2 day preview beta sucked me in, so I can't wait to try Diablo 3 out.
The new classes are amazing to me, except for the Witch Doctor, who looks frankly so stupid to me that I just gave it a blank stare when I saw it on the selection screen, just like I did at the preview page when the class was first announced. Not to say that it won't be fun to play, just that I hate the concept and design aesthetic. I would've much preferred to see the return of some kind of Necromancer.
In any case, I'm just so sick of World of Warcraft (and the MoP Beta that you automatically get into with the Annual Sub) I'm just happy that I'll have something else to play come May 15.
Well I love my 360, but I hope it's getting Bumpy Trot 2 (Steambot Chronicles 2 here in the US) at least as a multiplat, or else it looks like I'm going to have to get a PS3. Ugh, yes I have eclectic tastes in games...
Looks to me that the backgrounds have improved a lot. Mario looks a little brighter and has a few more details, but it's the background detail and scene lighting that have changed the most, imho. Textures seem more detailed and crisper too. Check out the detailed texturing on the "jewel" that Mario is standing on in the "Space" comparison pic in Galaxy for instance, and the texturing on all the objects in that scene vs. the flat, almost uni-color textures in Sunshine. Anyhow, a video comparison showing the images in motion would probably be a more accurate reference though, as people have said. It's interesting to see Wii vs Gamecube comparisons.
I love the Wii Zapper's submachine gun grip! More than anything else, it's what's convinced me to buy a Wii. I just hope they release a LOT of games for it.
I like what Rare is doing for Microsoft, and I'll admit that if I like any of the Big 3 game developers, it's Microsoft... but I still think that Rare would be better off as a Third Party able to develop for Nintendo or actually being owned by Nintendo itself. There's just too much good history between Rare and Nintendo to just dismiss out of hand.
"I never understood the need for a frackin web browser on a console. Why would you want to browse the web on your TV with a console controller when you can do the same the way it's meant to be done with a mouse, keyboard and computer screen at your computer? What's more, your computer is quite likely to be only a few steps away from your X360." I agree with this statement. Almost everyone already has a PC already for work/word processing/e-mail, etc. there's really no need for inferior redundancy in a gaming console. It doesn't hurt the console by any means, but it just seem really useless to me.
An Fx5200 Would really be pushing it, honestly. I'd say something like a ATI 9600XT or a Geforce 5700 -minimum- is what's necessary to run it at all. A 7600 GS or GT would run this game very well, although perhaps not with everything on the very high setting.
Hmm... unless the 8800GTX makes the results a fluke, it looks like using more than a 256mb or 1GB readyboost max is basically overkill, and doesn't give you much performance. Anyhow, I'm not getting anything close to the 8800GTX or Windows Vista any time soon, so it's a moot point to me.
Games like GOW 2 (on the Playstation 2 no less, the least powerfull of the last-gen consoles) just make me reiterate my thought that there' still life left in the old systems, and that the big 3 console makers gave up on them too soon. Seriously, if you can get graphical quality like this on the PS2, think of what you could get going on the more powerful Gamecube and -especially- the X-box.
