PC gaming is stronger than ever and will continue to grow as people realize how redundant the consoles are and make the shift to quality gaming on PC. Sony admitted they released the Pro as an attempt to keep gamers from leaving to PC and Microsoft has embraced PC with their Play Anywhere initiative. Things are looking good. :)

Didn't the last JPR article that was posted here state that the PC gaming hardware was at $200 billion and the gaming GPU market alone was worth $30 billion. Take of that what you will as that article was pretty atrocious for its accuracy.

Star Citizen will be a fully fledged and complete game before Half Life 3 comes out.

Atleast Half life 3 is not asking us to give money for nothing unlike star citizen.

Are you so sure they won't have $500 crowbar skins or one-use crowbars that need to be purchased to open crates? It is not like Valve has never done anything like that...

@ronvalencia: It's not a 1080 Ti. Benchmarks or GTFO.

You GTFO. Titan X Pascal is the full GP102 chip you stupid clown.

https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gpu_displays/nvidia_gtx_1080ti_specifications_leak/1

1080 Ti has 384 bit normal GDDR5 instead of Titan X Pascal's 384 bit GDDR5X.

1080 Ti slots between Titan X Pascal and GTX 1080 non-Ti

Try again.

Aren't those specs supposed to be fake?

What you are describing is exactly what crowdfunding is for everygame, except you are singling out SC and saying its unethical because you dont seem to understand that the funding amounts on these games on the KS pages are for the MVP (minimum viable product) every crowdfunded games hope is to take more than that so they can expand the scope beyond the minimum that they can afford, yet you seem to be obsessed about SC doing this over every other developer,, what you call unethical and decetiful is standard practice in crowd funding.

Ther is no deception or anything unethical about it you just don't get it

You are the stupidest person i have ever met.

You make me ashamed to be a gamer

That is all

Not every game continues funding and increasing stretch goals after the initial project. Again. They should have offered original backers a refund if they didn't want to go along for the ride. They essentially pitched a worthy successor to Freelancer with FPS elements and one of the stretch goals was a persistent online universe. Now we also have star marine which is an FPS game?

Are you sure one of the stretch goals was for a persistent universe and it was not in the main kickstarter?

Here is a quote from the original page from Oct 20 2012:

"Upon completion of your tour you’ll re-enter the persistent Star Citizen universe with some credits in your pocket and Citizenship to help you make your way."

Here is the added real quick section from Nov 7 2012:

  • A rich universe focused on epic space adventure, trading and dogfighting in first person.
  • Single Player – Offline or Online(Drop in / Drop out co-op play)
  • Persistent Universe (hosted by US)
  • Mod-able multiplayer (hosted by YOU)
  • No Subscriptions
  • No Pay to Win

If other changes are what you have issues with that is fine (Star Marine, etc.). But if Persistent Universe not being in the main kickstarter campaign is your main issue here for why people have been misled and why CIG was unethical then that would indeed be incorrect.

@ronvalencia: Sorry about such a late reply but I have been rather busy.

I was going to point out some things about your last post but it seems pointless now as the article is no long available from the link provided. So it may have indeed been a farce or at the very least a extremely flawed piece of research having been removed.

@GarGx1: As the link no longer brings up the article it may indeed have been a PR stunt.

@ronvalencia:

Table 3 is just Table 2 + Table 1 added together so why should Table 2 be ignored? (101.81(T1_AMD)+307.08(T2)=408.89(T3)

Table 2 is the shipment data for consoles which they gathered from company financial reports to get the installed base of gaming consoles.

Table 3 claims to be the cumulative install based of x86 machines but as it is just T1+T2 added together that is utter BS as T2 included non-x86 machines.

Unless you have another explanation for the 307 million increase from PC x86 GPU numbers to achieve Table 3's 2016 AMD numbers, Table 2 is entirely relevant.

Wasn't the PS3's GPU Nvidia based? Funny they completely ruled that out and only included AMD/ATI based consoles in their research.

"...we looked at the installed base of the latest consoles (Microsoft Xbox-One, Nintendo Wii and Wii U, and the Sony PS4" is crap as the only way to get 155 million AMD/ATI GPU console install base in 2010 is to included the X360 and probably the Gamecube. And yet they exclude the PS3.

"For the past seven years, the three major vendors installed base of GPUs for PC gaming declined slowly following the PC’s decline." - And after that quote from this "research" article this is just what I thought BS.

Presented table is for machines with X86 CPU NOT with PowerPC CPU. PS4 and XBO game consoles are like Apple's Mactel PCs but with a full garden wall.

Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U and PS3 uses PowerPC based CPUs which is not X86 based CPU.

So again how can there be 155 million x86 consoles in 2010 with AMD/ATI gpus when consoles were not x86 until current gen unless they are including all AMD/PowerPC based console systems? Please explain to me how this 'research' article is not full of shit.

They specifically mention the Wii and Wii U as modern consoles in the list of the install base they are using. How can they specifically list PowerPC based systems and omit a Nvidia based console because it is not x86 based?

This researcher is so piss poor that they included the Wii and WiiU as x86 consoles and omit Nvidia based console because it is not x86 based?

When did 2012->2016 start equaling 5 years?

Kickstarter is less of a problem than that of the industry itself where it is common practice to show one thing at E3 with a demo and release something sometimes completely different than shown. Aliens Colonial Marines, No Mans Sky, [insert Ubisoft game], etc.

They quote Derek Smart as a source of information, yeah must be an accurate article. /roll

So if No Man's Sky is a canoe and Star Citizen is a luxury liner what would Line of Defense be? A deflated innertube?
