Favorite albums: Honorable Mentions, Pt. 2 of 3 (Lady Gaga, Flyleaf, Muse, etc.)

As a side note, yes I understand that a lot ofthese aren't truly "hardcore" albums. No, I don't care.

:)

Saints:

"Saints"

"The Aleph"

*"From the Red"

Some of the best metalcore you'll ever hear. Only real problem is that the songs aren't too creative, but are solid hardcore songs.

The Question:

"So Cold I Could See My Breath"

"Returning the Smile You Have Had From the Start"

*"Studying Politics"

Solid emo rock, flirting with being hardcore. Good for people who want to "get used" to screaming. "Studying Politics" is an excellent song.

This War is Ours:

"Bad Blood"

"The Flood"

*"This War is Ours"

Theguitar riffs remind of cl@ssic rock, except more br00tal! And I love Craigafer... So I love this album. Guitar players, listen to "This War is Ours".

Memento Mori:

"Again"

"Chasm"

*"Beautiful Bride"

Solid hard rock fronted by a woman with a beautiful and unique voice. Plus, they're Christian! :)

3-D

"3-D"

"Comfortably Confused"

*"What This Means to Me"

Soothing hardcore band. Oxymoron right? Wrong! Check out this album. It's awesome! The electronic elements are awesome.

Kutless

"Your Touch"

"Pride Away"

*"Tonight"

Great, Christian hard rock. You have no idea how hard it is to find that... haha

Minus, the lead singer's need to sound like Creed (facepalm), I like everything about this band. On this album. lol

The Fame Monster:

"Monster"

"Bad Romance"

*"So Happy I Could Die"

My guilty pleasure. Though she's talented enough for me to say that she shouldn't be a guilty pleasure. Great choruses, and interesting insights on men in general. Good pop for once.

Apologies Are For the Weak:

"Forgive and Forget"

"Apologies Are for the Weak"

*"Architect"

Great solid, gothic sounding metalcore. And the singer is brilliantly used for dramatic effect. Especially in "Architect".

WIDE AWAKE:

(Couldn't find artwork for their album. It came out two days ago. :P)

"Echoes of an Empire"

"Forevermore"

*"Dearest, I'm So Sorry"

Listen to their album here.

Hardcore. With a girl frontman. Or frontwoman I should say. She can let out a screech too! XP Solid.

PS, sammy I know you'll hate them. haha

Recover:

"When Heaven is Silent"

"Now or Never"

*"Delete, Repeat"

*"Tighten It Up"

Excellent singing, breakdowns, and catchy screaming (crazy, right?). Head and shoulders above most in the hardcore genre. Tie for my favorite song btw. haha

Favorite albums: honorable mentions pt. 1 of 3

Basically, name the album, show artwork, point out my favorite tracks and briefly explain why I like the CD.

* indicates my favorite song off the album

Siamese Dream:

"Cherub Rock"

"Today"

*"Disarm"

Good enjoyable and talented alternative. Can't go wrong with any song on this CD.

Deja Entendu:

"Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades"

"The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows"

*"The BoyWho Blocked His Own Shot"

Every song is good. Head and shoulders above everyone else in the "emo" crowd.

Children 18:3:

"All My Balloons"

"Who They Are"

*"Homemade Valentine"

Their own type of punk. And they have positive undertones in their lyrics. Solid.

We Will Overcome

"A Proclamation"

"Arms Raised"

*"Song for the Broken"(I LOVE this song so much!)

A Christian A Day to Remember. Fast paced hardcore music. It's great.

The Unveiling:

"Lift the Veil"

"A Scar Filled Sky"(Lyrics are hanging up on my wall)

*"Penetrate, Illuminate"

To be honest, I don't know why I like these guys more than most hardcore bands. But I actually really like the lead singer's voice

For Those Who Have Heart:

"The Plot to Bomb the Panhandle"

"You Should Have Killed Me When You Had the Chance"

*"Monument"

Pop-mosh. Win.

Enema of the State:

"What's My Age Again"

"Dysentery Gary"

"Going Away to College"

*"Adam's Song"

Immature pop-punk from my favorite band. Adam's Song, however, showed their true alternative prowess.

#1: (Drum Roll...)

I've seen this movie probably around 27 times now, and I understand there are numerous flaws that should not be overlooked. But there are also some things that were AMAZING that also should not be overlooked.

It's been stated to death, but Heath Ledger's rendition of the Joker will never be forgotten and for good reason. The dark, twisted lines and unique, chilling mannerisms of the man "who laughs" are forever imbedded in my mind. Sequels to comic book movies need great villains, and this movie hit that on the nail, and is the new standard for great villainy in cinema.

Christian Bale has another great, but not Oscar winning performance as a conflicted super hero struggling to find his way. Michael Caine stole the show though in these lines and he successfully captured the reason why Batman IS the best superhero of all time:

"Endure, Master Wayne. Take it. They'll hate you for it, but that's the point of Batman, he can be the outcast. He can make the choice that no one else can make, the right choice."

This movie has multiple memorable quotes and many memorable scenes, and the excitement this movie brings on the first viewinghas yet to be matched by any movie I've ever seen.

I was more impressed with my first viewing of this movie than any other movie I've ever seen. To this day, the interrogation scene gives me chills.

There's not much else to say about this cl@ssic otherthen that everyone of my generation will NEVER EVER forget this movie. Or how they felt after those credits rolled...

Next top 10:

Albums.

;)

#2: V for Vendetta

Remember, remember the 5th of November. The gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.

These words stick with you. Or me, at least.

Hugo Weaving's voice was perfect for this movie. Convincing, a little mysterious, and a great accent totop it off.

Natalie Portman is pretty with or without hair, but she is actually the only part of the movie I kind of didn't like. I wish she would be a bit more "strong", but I think she acted better after she was shaved. :P

The plot itself I thought was irrestible, along with the fact that I think V is the perfect anti-hero. Poetic, yet villanous in a lot of ways. You find yourself agreeing with a lot of what he says, but disagreeing with a lot of what he does.

It's brilliant.

And the ending was spectacular.

I love this movie.

#3: Slumdog Millionaire

OTers hate this movie and I'll never fully understand why. I'll explain breifly why I love it

Entertaining, great cinematography, best feel-good movie I've ever seen, great music, great plot mechanics, and a redemption story for one of the supporting characters. All in all I loved this movie a lot!

:)

Sorry about the STEEP delay. lol

Been busy and haven't been on here much.

#4: 500 Days of Summer (and I got the blockbuster game pass!)

This movie describes my experiences with girls to a tee, minus the shower sex and a certain explicative shouting scene.

It pulled no punches, and really REALLY tugged on my heart strings and made me feel for Tom so much. Zooey Deschanel plays the most irrestible annoyingly vague woman ever, and even I was entranced on my first viewing of this movie.

And the dancing scene is one of my favorite scenes of all time.

Overall, it's my favorite "comedy," though it is a very offbeat comedy to say the least.

Oh and like the title says, I got a game pass! I'm currently renting Mass Effect 2, and I believe I already know my next two rentals will be Bioshock 2 and Battlefield Bad Co. 2.

What other games should I try?

If you wanna know which games I haven't played, here it is:

Assassin's Creed II

Dragon Age

Borderlands

Brutal Legend

Just Cause 2

Modern Warfare 2

Final Fantasy XIII (not usually into Turn based RPGs)

Forza Motorsport 3

Darksiders

Left 4 Dead 2

etc.

#5: Memento

I am not good at reviewing movies, or games for that matter, but what I will say about this masterpiece is short and sweet.

I don't think you will ever find a more interesting plot, or have a fiercer headache after watching this movie.

It is the type of movie you immediately wanna watch after it has ended. One of Nolan's first, and best, movies, and I'm glad to know that my favorite director can make multiple types of movies.

In short, watch this movie. If you have already seen it, watch it again.

#6: Star Wars Episodes IV-VI

The amount of inside jokes me and my friends have about these movies.

The BAness of Han never gets old.

The cheesy-over-the-top farmboy esque Luke doesn't get old.

Vader's chilling breathing never get old.

The trench-run never gets old.

The asteroid scene never gets old.

"It's a trap!" never gets old.

X-wings never get old, and neither does the Millenium Falcon.

The walking carpet never gets old.

"Laugh it up, fuzzball" never gets old.

"Scruffy looking nerf-herder" never gets old.

Snowspeeders tripping AT-ATs never gets old.

My consensus: these movies NEVER get old!

:)

#7: Batman Begins

An all black suit. About freaking time!

Anyway, this is the movie that changed me from a casual movie fan, to a border-line obsessed film-critique.

I love how they explained his origins in this movie, and I thought everyone minus Kate Cruise played very good roles. Scarecrow was very good, and Liam Neeson in general made the baddies good, and the overall dark atmosphere and setting were very well preferred over Adam West-titling-camera-and-stupid-onomatopoeia-esque Batman.

This is also the movie that introduced me to Christopher Nolan, and this is the first of 3 his movies that will be on this list.

I believe what carried this movie over Spiderman and Iron Man (imo) is the music. Hans Zimmer truly outdid himself, until we were introduced to The Dark Knight. The man knows how to make an exciting scene EXCITING.

Overall, my favorite super hero who finally received an excellent movie based on his excellent story. How could this not be on my top?

Plus, no Robin = happiness.

#8: Lord of the Rings trilogy

Arguably the greatest fantasy story put on screen...

It could've gone wrong in so many ways, and yet, Peter Jackson did it.

He summed up the unsummable (don't know if that's a word :P), and successfully put this wonder of a story on screen.

Every movie has unbelievably good acting, and I think it's cool that relatively unknown names joined together to make a film that arguably everyone knows about.

I don't think there is much for me to say besides that I love these movies. A LOT.

And Samwise Gamgee is the most admirable character ever, in my opinion.
