Naruto Episode 28: Eat or Be Eaten! Naruto Becomes Bait.

Sasuke immediately recognizes that Naruto is a fake because of the shuriken on left leg, the lack of his face wound, and his incorrect handedness. Hidden Rain nin, Mubi, transforms and attacks. Sasuke attacks with his fireball technique, Katon Housenka no Jutsu (Fire Element, Phoenix Fire). He then searches for Naruto, who is lying tied up and releases him, but in the process falls into one of Mubi’s traps. Naruto comes to his rescue and Sasuke is able to use his sharingan to stab Mubi with his shuriken. Mubi runs into the forest.

Sasuke decides to set a password to identify teammates in case the group splits up. First, they will ask, "The ninja song 'Ninki'?" to which they will respond “It is a good chance when a large number of enemies are making a scene. There are no hideouts even in a quiet place. It is important for a ninja to know the right time. The time when the enemy is tired, and has his guard down.”

Suddenly, Naruto gets hit & his cheek sliced. A large gust of wind hits them and the Hidden Rain nin team appears. Sakura, Sasuke, and Naruto are separated. Sakura meets up with Sasuke and recites the password. Soon Naruto appears and he too recites the password. Sasuke immediately recognizes Naruto as an imposter, as the real Naruto would never remember it. A Hidden Grass Ninja appears and asks how Sasuke knew he was a fake.

Naruto meanwhile is swallowed by a large snake.

The Grass nin eats his scroll and then attacks with a vicious mental attack. Both Sakura and Sasuke imagine themselves dying. After seeing his eye, an imprint of death was transferred to them. Sasuke wants to run, knowing that if they stay, death awaits them. Unfortunately, both are paralyzed by fear as Grass nin looks on ready to strike with his kunais.

Naruto has a near-death recount of his friends as he wonders if he will die in the snake’s stomach. Vowing not to give up yet, he performs shadow replication to escape.

Meanwhile, Sasuke is able to stabbed himself in the leg to free himself from his fear. He then picks up sakura and the two escaped the Grass nin’s kunai strike. Suddenly, a large snake attacks the two. Sasuke throws his shurikan and hits it, but the Grass nin emerges from its body and takes on its form. As Sasuke becomes more emerged in his fear, Naruto shows up to help.

Naruto Episode 27: Second Exam Starts! Everyone Around Us is an Enemy

Naruto makes fun of Anko for bringing them to the Forest of Death. Not taking Naruto’s comments lightly, she pulls a shuriken and threatens Naruto, clipping the clothes of another ninja in the process. That serpent-tongued ninja interrupts her reprimands to hand her back her shuriken. Soon, Anko hands out consent forms, as some may die during this exam. The 2nd exam is a survival exam in the 44th training area, a circular region surrounded by 4 locked gate entrances dubbed the Forest of Death. There is a river, a forest, and in the middle is a tower within the area. The area is also infested with vicious monsters and poisonous plants. The exam consists of a competition over two scrolls - the scroll of heaven and scroll of earth - which are evenly split among 26 teams. Each team receives either a scroll of heaven or a scroll of earth. To pass, a team must bring both scrolls to the tower within 5 days. That means at least half (at least 13 teams) won’t pass. To make matters worse, if a scroll is destroyed within the 5 days, the number of successful teams will drop as well. Also, because the exam is taken in teams, if any team looses a teammate, that team will fail. Once the consent form is signed, no one is allowed to give up during the 5 days of the exam. The main rules are as follows:
  1. a team that cannot bring both scrolls to the tower with the tree teammates will fail.
  2. any team that looses a teammate or produces an unrecoverable teammate will fail
  3. teams are not allowed to look inside scrolls until they reach the tower

Anko explains that this test is to determine reliability. Everyone will begin at same time. Sasuke sits contemplating the consent form. Because no one knows which team has which type of scroll, they may have to kill each other if necessary to acquire the correct information. The exam begins. Hinata performs her Bakugan to use xray vision to see everything for up to several miles. They find a team almost immediately and claim their scroll. Meanwhile, the different Genin are taking on various strategies to prepare themselves for their upcoming battles. A team of Hidden Rain ninjas are attacked by killer

 

bugs. The leeches in Konoha are able to detect perspiration and body temperature and jump onto their target in groups. If they suck a person’s blood for 5 min, that person will die. Naruto and team hang out and bide their time. At one point, Naruto goes off to pee. When he returns, Sasuke immediately attacks him. Several aspects of Naruto are different, so Sasuke suspects an imposter. A Hidden Rain nin named Mubi transforms and starts to fight them.






Naruto Episode 26: Must Watch! Report before entering the Forest of Death!

This aired as part of a 45 min special introducing the second season of Naruto. It now appears that instead of the entire special being episode 26, the 45 min consisted of eps 26 & 27, if that makes sense. ###########################################

Everyone is checking out the forbidden area forest of death where the second part of the exam will be taking place. Konohamaru and gang sneak up behind Naruto in his completely obvious box. The three introduce themselves: Moegi, the one who possesses the sex appeal of an adult and the female ninja from the senior group, Udon, the one who loves dividing numbers, and Konohamaru, the village’s number one genius ninja - the Konohamaru Corps. Naruto tries to explain that he doesn’t have time to play, but Konohamaru wants to ask Naruto questions for the school’s newspaper. Anko agrees to let them do the story.

Chapter of Rin, Character Introduction
Naruto is a ninja, who’s hobby is pulling pranks. He loves ramen & became a Genin just recently. At the ninja academy, everyone labeled him a dropout but he passed the Genin exam with Iruka-sensei’s help to become a member of Kakashi’s 7th squad along with Sakura and Sasuke. His life goal is to become greater than all Hokages in the past.

Sasuke, from Naruto’s perspective, is a conceited kid. He is a member of the Uchiha clan, and overall, a miserable guy. Naruto transformed into him once to get close to Sakura, but his plan didn’t work out quite like he would have hoped.

Naruto introduces Sakura as the girl who’s in love with him. This story is quickly interrupted and declared a lie.

Back to the main story, the three Genin work as a team to accomplish dangerous missions. Naruto usually ends up getting in trouble, while the other two tend to come to his rescue.

Konohamaru is grandson of the third Hokage, the current leader of the village. The 4th Hokage was a hero who protected the village from a monster fox.

Iruka-sensei was the first to recognize Naruto, and because of that, Naruto looks up to him. He believes he is a good person, who treats him to ramen.

Naruto’s techniques:

  • Sexy no jutsu - A naked girl appears to knock male opponents off their guard.

  • Shadow replication - Naruto replicates himself multiple times and attacks his opponent with his clones

  • Harem no jutsu - Many sexy no jutsu replications
Sasuke:
  • Goukakyuu no jutsu (Fire element Blazing fireball) made with Horse seal & tiger seal

  • Fuuma shuriken - made 1 shuriken into windmill with 4 blades


  • Shadow windmill - shadow stealth technique where one shuriken hides in shadow of another shuriken


  • Sharingan - a hereditary condition that allows him to read all types of Tai, Gen, and NinJutsu techniques. It also allows him to copy his opponent’s moves.
  • And in the words of Sakura, he has a very cold attitude, but has eyes that can make any girl fall in love with him
Kakashi, also known as copy ninja Kakashi. There’s a rumor that he’s copied more than 1000 techniques. He is always late for meetings, & is always reading a book called Flirting Paradise when he gets bored.

  • Ninpou kuchiyose doton tsuiga no Jutsu (summoning move earth element: tracking fangs) - tracks opponents with nin dogs when he can’t see or hear

  • Lightning edge - chakra builds up in his hand (taijutsu)
Chapter of Tou, Rival
Sasuke - Sasuke knew from the beginning he had to take this path in life. Naruto, however, is jealous that Sasuke gets all the attention from both rivals and girls.

Gaara of the desert and Rock Lee are currently the main opponents, as are Asuma Sarutobi’s team 10 made up of Nara Shikamaru, Akimichi Choji, Yamanaka Ino, and Kurenai Yuuhi’s team 8 comprised of Hyuga Hinata, Inuzuka Kiba (and his puppy Akamaru), and Aburame Shino.

At the moment, the first phase of the Chuunin exam has been completed. 78 participants passed, making it to the 2nd part in the Forest of Death.

Naruto Episode 25: An Off-the-Cuff Match! The 10th Question That We Must Hold Ou

Time ticks away until the 10th problem is given. There is one special rule for it - what they call a hopeless rule.

The three rookie Genin sensei, Kakashi, Asuma, and Yuuhi, sit outside the testing room wondering how their teams are doing. They note that Ibiki is Konoha ANBU’s torture and interrogation squad leader, so they are certain that he is mentally torturing and interrogating his exam participants.

Inside, Ibiki explains that everyone must choose if they wish to take the tenth problem, however, those who choose not to take it will fail. The other rule is that if they choose to take it and get it wrong, they will lose the privilege of taking the Chuunin exam forever. Several participants decide not to take it. Naruto slowly raises his hand, but slams it down, announcing that he is ready for final question. With that outburst, Naruto wipes out everyone else’s uncertainty and the 78 remaining all decide to take the last question. Ibiki then announces that everyone there passes. There was no such thing as the 10th question.

He then explains that the test’s purpose lies in the first rule: that their pass-fail decision is based on their three person teams. The point was to put lots of pressure on them so they would strive not to let down their teams. However, the current exam problems can’t be solved by Genin, so the exam initially assumed that everyone would cheat. They snuck to two Chuunins who knew all the answers to be the targets of cheating. They wanted everyone to use their stealth in order to test how well refined their information gathering skills were. The tenth question was a two choice problem - to take it or not. He explains a similar real-life ninja mission that carries heavy risks and how courage and confidence are necessary. Chuunins need to be steadfast in their unwavering decisions.

Suddenly, their new examiner breaks in through the window and announces that second examiner, Mitarashi Anko is here. After observing that 78 participants of the original 153 are still remaining, she is convinced that Ibiki was too easy on them and vows to fail more than half of the remaining participants.

Next morning, everyone shows up at the 44th training area - the Forest of Death.

Naruto Episode 24: I Fail Already? The Extremely Difficult First Exam

Morino Ibiki enters the room and reprimands his Sound team for acting before the exam starts. He mentions that no one is allowed to fight another during the exam unless given permission by the examiners. Even if permission is given, they are not allowed to kill their opponent. If they break the rules, they will fail. The first exam is a paper test.

Naruto is getting more and more anxious until Hinata encourages him. Ibiki explains the rules and states that he will not accept any questions, so they’d better listen carefully.


  1. Each participant is given 10 points at the start. The written exam consists of 10 questions, each worth 1 point. The test is a deduction based test, so if you get all problems correct, your point total remains at 10. If you get 3 problems incorrect, your point total is reduced to 7.

  2. The pass/fail decision is determined by team’s total points.

  3. If a participant is caught cheating, each action will cause him/her to lose 2 points. If they drop to 0 points, they are kicked out of the exam.

  4. If anyone on the team gets a 0, the entire team will fail.

  5. The last problem will be given 45 minutes after the test begins. They have 1 hour to complete the exam.
A few minutes into the exam, Sasuke recognizes that he can’t solve any of the problems and starts to realize the true purpose of the test. Naruto, on the other hand, panics. Sakura, being the brainiac she is, is one of the only ones in the room that actually knows the answers and is determined to get as many points as she can. Sasuke soon fully realizes that the test’s purpose was not to test knowledge, but to test how well they can conceal their cheating. Do it like a first rate ninja and not get caught while gathering the correct answers. Several of the ninjas start their information gathering technique as Naruto continues to flip out that he can’t answer any questions. Hinata notices Naruto’s frustration and even offers to show Naruto her exam. At first, he wants to know why. She answers she doesn’t want him to fail. As Naruto turns to view Hinata’s exam, the examiners kick out several people for failing. Naruto then decides to refuses her help.

Meanwhile, everyone else starts to use their powers to find answers. Sasuke uses his Sharingen to copy another. Ino performs Ninpou Shintenshin no Jutsu (Mind Transfer Technique) to slip into Sakura’s mind for a while. Gaaru creates a sand eye, and Kankuro uses an examiner replica.

Naruto Episode 23: Defeat the Rivals! All Nine Rookies have Assembled

Kakashi explains that the Chuunin exam can only be taken in teams of three. Sakura is shocked that Kakashi lied to them about their free will to choose whether or not they wanted to participate. Kakashi explains that if he didn’t say that, Naruto and Sasuke would have forced her to participate. He, however, is very proud that each member of his team agreed to participate.

Inside, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura find themselves among many Chuunin exam participants. Seeing the rookie Genins, Ino runs up to Sasuke and throws herself at him, much to the dismay of Sakura. Naruto then starts his round of introductions. First up is Asuma Sarutobi’s team, made of Nara Shikamaru, who always complains and is lazy Akimichi Chouji, who is always eating and Yamanaka Ino, who is always fighting with Sakura.

Next up is Kurenai Yuuhi’s team comprised of Hyuga Hinata, a shy girl who always blushes when Naruto is around Inuzuka Kiba and his puppy Akamaru, who acts like the boss of the team and Aburame Shino, who Naruto doesn’t know very well. The three rookie Genin teams talk sh** at each other until another Genin approaches them. Yakushi Kabuto, who is participating in the exam for the seventh time, warns the rookies to be careful.

Thus begins his explanation of the Chuunin exam. The exam takes place twice every year, and Kabuto admits that this is his fourth year participating. That statistic causes the rookies some angst over how difficult the exam may actually be. Kabuto then pulls out his deck of recognition cards and starts his newbie lesson on the info he’s collected over the past 4 years. To extract the info from the blank cards, Kabuto tunes them in to his chakra. Soon an image of the exam’s total number of examinees and countries participating appears.

Kabuto explains that they take the exam in teams to deepen their friendships with other villages and to heighten the level of the ninja. However, he thinks the real purpose is to confirm the level of the ninja in each adjacent country and to try to balance out the power. They do this to check and restrain each country’s powers. Sasuke asks for information on Gaara of the Hidden Village of Sand and Rock Lee from Konoha. Rock Lee is a year older than Sasuke. He’s done 20 D-rank missions and 11 C-rank missions. The squad leader is Gai-sensei and his teammates are Tenten and Hyuuga Neji. His hand to hand combat skills have increased dramatically this past year, but his other skills are terrible. This is the first time taking the Chuunin.

Gaara of the desert completed 8 C-rank and 1 B-rank mission and returned from all his missions unharmed. This is his first time taking the exam.

The participants for this bi-annual Chuunin exam include:
Fire Country, Hidden Konoha (Leaf Village) - 72 participants
Wind Country, Hidden Sand Village - 30 participants
Grass Country - 15 participants
Waterfall Country - 12 participants
Rain Country - 21 participants
Sound Country - 3 participants

Also of note, the Hidden Village of Sound was just created recently.

Meanwhile, Kakashi stands outside the main room reconsidering his prior actions in which he demanded that Gai-sensei and Iruka-sensei respect his decision to allow his Genin into the tournament. He wonders now if he was too curt.

Back inside, Kabuto warns the rookies to keep a low profile. Not being one to remain quiet, Naruto immediately grabs the room’s attention to introduces himself and vow that he will not lose to any one of them. Ino runs up to Sakura and accuses her of provoking him. Meanwhile, the rest of the ninjas contemplate how they will show Naruto a thing or two. The Sound team, already annoyed with Kabuto’s description of their small country, takes immediate action. They stealthily creep up to Kabuto and take a swing at him. At first it seems as though he dodges the attack, but soon his glasses break and he kneels down to vomit.

Not long after, Morino Ibiki, the examiner of the first test of the Chuunin Exam, shows up.

Naruto Episode 22: Energy 120%: A Modern and Rocking Challenge!

Sasuke seems to have attracted the attention of Rock Lee, who challenges him to a fight. Rock Lee is not only interested in seeing how his skills match up against a descendent of the Uchiha clan, but he also has a mad crush on Sakura, much to her dismay. Feeling neglected in his teammates’ shadows, Naruto offers to fight in Sasuke’s place. Without wasting time, he charges, but is easily stopped by Rock Lee. Rock Lee explains that they cannot beat him because he is the strongest of the Konoha Genins right now. Now interested, Sasuke accepts his challenge.

Sasuke attacks and is met by the Konoha Whirlwind and knocked backwards. As he gets back up, he prepares to use his Sharingan moves to figure out Rock Lee’s technique. He again charges Rock Lee, but again, Rock Lee is able to hit him. He senses that his moves are neither ninja or illusory - just straight hand to hand fighting. Unfortunately, with hand to hand fighting, the Sasuke’s Sharingan isn’t helpful because even if he can see the techniques, his body can’t move fast enough to react. Rock Lee does Shadow Dance to finish off Sasuke, but a large turtle stops his attack before it hits.

The turtle reprimands Rock Lee for using his forbidden technique. Gai-sensei then appears on top of the turtle and punches Rock Lee hard in the face as punishment. The two then cry and make up. As Kakashi’s three ninjas stare at this ridiculous scene in complete shock, Gai-sensei asks how his eternal rival, Kakashi is doing. He’s ahead in the match record, which stands at 50 wins and 49 losses.

Rock Lee then confesses that he is not the strongest of his team - Hyuga Neji is. Naruto comments to Sasuke that they have a lot of training to do to compete, but they all agree that the Chuunin exam will be interesting.

Naruto Episode 21: Identify Yourselves! The Powerful Enemies That Have Arrived!

Gaara reprimands Kankurou for coming to the village and starting something with these kids. Kankurou apologizes to him. Sasuke is haunted by Gaara’s evil eyes, while Gaara is impressed that Sasuke could hit Kankurou’s hand so easily with a rock. The three are Genins of the Hidden Village of the Sand from the Country of Wind. They came to this village to take the Chuunin exam. Before they walk away, Sasuke and Gaara exchange names and hard looks.

Hokage-sama calls forth Kakashi, Kurenai, and Asuma to step forth and asks if there are any Genins amongst their groups that should be entered in the exam. Any Genin who has completed more than eight missions is eligible through their recommendations. Kakashi recommends Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura. Kurenai recommends Hyuuga Hinata, Inuzuka Kiba, and Aburame Shino. Finally, Asuma recommends Yamanaka Ino, Nara Shikamaru, and Akimichi Chouji. Iruka steps forth, and challenges Kakashi’s recommendations. He doesn’t believe that Naruto is ready yet. Kakashi stands by his recommendations, and to appease Iruka, Hokage-sama offers to put the rookie Genins through a special preliminary exam. The next morning, Kakashi presents his ninjas with applications for the Chuunin exam. Both Naruto and Sasuke are ready to accept, but Sakura has doubts.

After Naruto finishes his missions, he meets Konohamaru and group and offers to play with them. Suddenly, a ninja appears from behind, grabs Moegi, and heads off. Naruto heads after the ninja, who is looking for the first Hokage’s Scroll of Sealing. He won’t let Moegi go until he has it. Naruto is able to use his replication technique and free Moegi.

Meanwhile, Sasuke asks Sakura if she’d like to take a walk with him. He doesn’t think she’s ready for the Chuunin exam and should give up. She’s thrilled that he’s worried about her. A ninja attacks and soon Sasuke is pinned to the ground with knives. The ninja tells her to give up before the Chuunin exam or that could happen to her. She tells him that she sees through his illusion and that the real Sasuke would not have invited her for a walk. She also tells him that she knows he’s an illusion as well, and that the real him isn’t even here. He tests her by throwing a large stick, but she walks right into it and it disappears.

The ninja, Iruka in disguise, reports back to Kakashi that all nine rookies passed the preliminary exam.

Inside the school, a couple of bully Chuunin exam entrants throw up an illusion attack and give several of the rookies a hard time. Sasuke confronts them, praising Sakura’s analyzing skills and illusionary technique know-how, in the process. The main bully and Sasuke go at it, but another Genin named Rock Lee steps in and stops their attacks. Everyone introduces themselves and they go ahead with the application process. The bullies transform back into examiners.

Naruto Episode 20: Enter the New Chapter! Its the Chuunin Exam.

Naruto wakes up, eats breakfast, and heads out to meet the others. Sasuke and Sakura are waiting on the bridge for their daily missions. When Naruto and Sasuke see each other, the tension between them mounts. Kakashi shows up late as usual with a handful of missions consisting mainly of errands and household chores. Naruto is very focused on beating Sasuke throughout each task and ends up messing up most of his chores. He not only de-weeds a woman’s garden, but removes her herbs as well. He almost gets pulled over a waterfall until Sasuke saves him. And his dog walks him instead of the other way around. Kakashi senses that today is an off day for teamwork and sends the three home. Sasuke takes one more shot at Naruto by telling him that if he doesn’t want to owe him anything, Naruto will need to become stronger than him..

With that, Sasuke heads home by himself. Sakura runs after him and asks if he’d like to practice a technique or two with her. He tells her that she’s just like Naruto and should practice before she asks him. Her level is lower than Naruto’s. This pretty much crushes Sakura as she realizes that she’s done the worst of the three. Naruto tells her not to worry about it and that she could practice with him if she wants.

A small box moves its way to Naruto and then explodes revealing Konohamaru and two other kids, Moegi and Udon. The three are the Konohamaru Corps and they want to play ninja with Naruto. Sakura comes up and punches Naruto in the face. She is totally pissed off and about to take out her anger on the kids too. As Sakura chases the kids, they run into two mysterious ninjas. An evil looking male ninja picks Konohamaru up and threatens him.

As Kakashi submits his report forms, Iruka asks about Naruto. Kakashi explains that Naruto and Sasuke see each other as rivals, so at times, they are difficult, but their techniques are improving.

Naruto attacks the ninja holding Konohamaru, but he uses a technique to knock Naruto back. He starts to hit the kid, but Sasuke interferes, preventing the attack and impressing everyone around Naruto. Another ninja named Gaara shows up and tells him that’s enough.

Hokage-sama announces that the Chuunin selection exam will begin 7 days from now - on July 1.

Naruto Episode 19: Zabuza Disperses Into the Snow

Gatou shows up with his men on the bridge and dismisses Zabuza of his ninja responsibilities. At that moment, Zabuza apologizes to Kakashi and tells him the battle ends here. He now has no reason to fight them.

Gatou walks up to Haku’s lifeless body and kicks it. Naruto screams and tries to run up to him, but Kakashi stops him. Zabuza tells him that Haku is already dead. When Naruto protests in Haku’s defense, Zabuza says that he used Haku just as Gatou used him. He wanted his abilities, not him. Naruto cannot believe that and prepares to fight again. He defends Haku and Haku’s affection for Zabuza. He can’t understand how Zabuza could act so coldly when Haku loved him so much he sacrificed his own life for his. Haku can’t die as a tool. It’s just too painful.

The intenseness of Naruto’s soliloquy brings Zabuza to tears. He knows just what Haku did for him and thanks them for being his final opponents. He then asks Naruto for his knife. With the knife in his teeth, he charges into Gatou’s group of men, whipping his head to and fro until he is able to reach Gatou. With a couple of swings, Zabuza kills Gatou. Everyone looks on in horror that Zabuza could possibly be still standing with several swords sticking out of his body.

After Gatou dies, Zabuza looks at Haku’s body and collapses in the middle of Gatou’s men. He tells Haku goodbye. Naruto starts to look away, but Kakashi tells him that Zabuza deserves his respect and to keep looking.

At that moment, Sasuke regains consciousness. Sakura explains that Haku is dead and Sasuke realizes that Haku didn’t kill him on purpose. Everyone is relieved.

Suddenly, Gatou’s men interrupt the intenseness to declare that they want revenge. They rush, but are greeted by Inari and all the townsmen, who have stepped up to defend their town. Naruto and Kakashi have just enough chakra to Shadow Replicate and soon Gatou’s men retreat.

Zabuza’s last wish is to see Haku’s face. Kakashi carries his limp body over to where Haku’s body lies. He tells Haku that they’ve been together all this time, so he will die next to him. He uses his last bit of energy to touch Haku’s face and wish to go to the same place he has gone.

As the ninjas bury Zabuza and Haku’s bodies, Naruto vows not to become an emotionless tool and to follow his own ‘way of the ninja’ - to live as though he will regret nothing.

When the bridge is finally completed, the ninjas leave. Tazuna names the bridge in honor of Naruto - the Naruto Big Bridge - so that one day the bridge will be known throughout the world.
