Episode 20 - Pierrot Le Fou

Episode 20 - Pierrot Le Fou

After playing pool, Spike walks out into the middle of a gun fight. Ducking behind a trash can, he returns fire, only to see that the assassin has a shield. The assassin beats Spike up, but before he can kill Spike, a cat meows, which spooks the assassin. Spike rolls a container of compressed gas towards the assassin and blows it up. However, this does not kill the assassin and Spike is pursued, winding up with a knife in his shoulder.

The next day, Jet learns from one of his ISSP friends about an assassin named Mad Pierrot who killed a high ranking member of ISSP. He explains that Mad Pierrot kills everyone who sees his face and that Spike might be next, having survived the attack.

That night, an e-mail comes for Spike, asking him to meet the sender at Space Land. Faye intercepts it, trying to keep it from Spike, but Spike finds out and intends to go. After Spike leaves, Jet contacts Ed and learns that Spike is headed to Space Land. Space Land, a closed theme park, is suddenly lit up when Mad Pierrot appears. He fires on Spike, who runs for cover. However, Mad Pierrot catches up to him and the chase continues.

Meanwhile, Jet and Ed hack into the ISSP computer and look up Mad Pierrot's files. They realize that he was part of a genetic experiment that was cancelled, because his mind continued to regress to a child-like state. Mad Pierrot escaped, seeking revenge, but eventually learned to enjoy killing.

Mad Pierrot catches up with Spike, who has no where to run. When he draws his throwing knife, Mad Pierrot shoots him, but not before Spike throws the knife into Mad Pierrot's leg. Mad Pierrot collapses on the ground, crying for his mother because he is in pain, but before he can get up, a mechnical parade steps on him, killing him.

On arriving at the garage, a huge explosion occurs. Spike and Miles find that Doohan's trying to fix a space shuttle. Spike asks Doohan, the original creator of the Swordfish, to repair it.

Meanwhile, Jet and Faye find the spaceship pirates but when Faye moves in for the capture, the pirates upload a virun onto her ship and leave her stranded in space. They also take out the Bebop that way. As Spike is watching Doohan work on his ship, he receives a call from Faye and Jet, who tell him about this virus. They also tell him that a delivery truck with a purple penguin on it was the one that was stealing ships.

Angry that their ships were taken down by a mere virus, Jet plans a way to get back at them. The trio also find out that the purple penguin trucks might be legitimate delivery truck services too. To test their theory, Spike and Faye go after both trucks. One turns out to be legitimate, but the other is false. The false truck fights Spike and Jet, but gets caught in the gravity sphere for the planet and explodes.

As it explodes, it sends out harpoons that transmit the virus, which Spike intercepts to protect the Bebop. Meanwhile, Doohan, who had caught their whole conversation on Miles' radio, goes up in the space shuttle and rescues Spike.

They break into an elevator shaft and start to descend, but the old elevator breaks off and almost hits them. Deciding that the elevator is too risky, they break into an old vent and make their way down. Many injuries later, they find an old electronics store with another beta cassette player. Unsure of what to take, they take the two largest things and head back to the Bebop.

They put the tape in and watch. They see Faye as a small child, making a videotape as a message to herself in ten years.
