I haven't played since Fifa 15, I've thought about picking up either Fifa or PES in recent years, but I can never decide which one. The Volta mode actually looks really fun, but it really doesn't seem like the base game has evolved much in the last 5+ years.
The HDMI 2.1 standard was ratified like 2 years ago & I've been waiting for it to actually be included in TVs. It might finally be time for me to upgrade to 4K soon.
@subsided94: Player characters have never been the strength of Watch Dogs.
Aiden was criticised for being too bland. The hipster dude from 2, well I can't even remember his name, just that he was a hipster.
Some of the other characters in the games were interesting, but second game definitely suffered in the story telling department. Story was told through cutscenes, but almost never through actual gameplay, or during missions. There was no handcrafting for each mission, they simply pointed you in a direction & let you do the same open world stuff you'd been doing for the past 20 hours.
@jinzo9988: Apparently there's a permadeath option, which they decided to switch off by default, but you can turn it on.
I'm reminded of Far Cry: Primal (relevant because it's another Ubi game) & the animals you could recruit. I played with the default settings, any bear or sabre toothed tiger that died could be brought back with little effort. I thought the game was pretty meh. However, a couple of my friends played with the Survivalist settings & they really enjoyed the game. For them, an animal death actually meant something. They would have to find & tame a new animal, not simply conjure the old one back from the abyss by spending a few easily gained resources.
@uninspiredcup: I think it's mainly Ultimate Team that's pay to win lootboxes. They mentioned it's mostly unchanged from last year. If you're into UT, it sucks, but you basically know what you're getting now. I think most reviewers have gotten tired of talking about it.
Of course, it would definitely be worth mentioning if loot boxes had slipped into the single player/couch co-op parts of the game.
@tlpina: It's kinda funny how everyone is getting into this 2 years later. I'm glad the show is getting the attention it deserves, but it shows just how dead YouTube exclusives have been.
I have zero interest in Star Wars as a franchise, but I'll play a game if it stands on its own merit. I also have no interest in multiplayer, so I don't think I'll be buying this, but I'd definitely give the single player a jam if it pops up on EA Play or Gamepass or something.
@torrone: That just has controversy written all over it. I don't think the world is ready for that right now.
Plus they've already had one game in America. One of the last remaining fundamental elements of the AC franchise is historical tourism & we need to see new things. How about something in the Khmer Empire (modern day Cambodia)? Wouldn't it be great to explore some history that's rarely been explored in Western media?
@thenephariouson: They really should have retired the franchise after Revelation. Black Flag was a great game, but it would have been even better if it was a straight up pirate game without the assassin stuff. Syndicate, Origins & Odyssey were all good too, but they're feeling more & more like the name on the box is holding them back, rather than letting them shine as their own identities.
