@bdrtfm: I honestly don't know how you get GTA from this. I guess you really haven't read much.

From what they've said, it will be much more of an RPG. Thin dialogue choices & making decisions in missions that affect the outcome of different characters & set you on a path for different endings. You'll also be able to level up your character & specialise in different abilities, not to mention modify your body with robot bits, not unlike Deus Ex games.

The GTA franchise has made thieving automobiles a staple of open world games, even when you're supposed to be the good guy. Cyberpunk might have a few more consequences in store if you to to wreak havoc like you do in GTA.

Anyway, I'm not going to try to sell you the game. Wait for reviews if you're unsure. Hopefully most of them will avoid too many spoilers.

I have the Xbox One Elite Controller for PC & one of the things I love is being able to switch the triggers to short-throw for games that involve a lot of shooting or back to the normal setting for more precise control for driving. I can image that the PS5 Controller might be even better for this sort of thing if devs utilise it well.

My one concern about these controllers would be battery life. Using the Elite Controller on battery, it would last for hours on a game like Assassin's Creed, but Forza Horizon with the constant vibration from car engines would drain the battery very quickly. Adding the motorised triggers to the equation might put a cap on long gaming sessions unless you invent in a lengthy cable.

@id0ntkn0w7: As I already said, I don't think you're dumb, just clearly uninformed about this particular topic. Although if you think four short paragraphs is an essay, I could have been wrong there.

So how many platforms had 60fps before now? Um, how many different kinds of PC to I get to count? I owned a PS2 & a PS3, but I switched from console to PC because up until very recently, console games didn't allow the user to customise their experience to get a frame rate they're happy with. It's not just about difficulty, games just feel better to play. I know that's difficult to quantify, but it's real.

I've had a high refresh rate monitor since early 2016 & I can definitely notice the difference when the frame rate is above 60fps. I also ran an SLI setup with two graphics cards & I would immediately be able to tell when a game was only utilising one of them & the frame rate was lower. I borrowed a friend's PS4 to play God of War earlier this year & it felt sluggish. It was a great game, but it would have been even better at 60fps. I'm not making this up, the difference is easy to tell.

@id0ntkn0w7: Watching a single youtube video doesn't count as being educated, but if you can't even take the time to watch a single video, let alone research multiple sources & do A/B tests yourself, then it's likely that you are uneducated on this particular topic. The big telltale sign that you are uneducated, however, is that you are wrong.

The thing that sucks about being stupid is that it's really hard to become smart. The great thing about being uneducated is that all you have to do is study a little & then you're no longer uneducated. You don't seem stupid to me, but I sincerely think you're missing the mark with this topic.

Plenty of tests have shown a big difference between 30 & 60 fps. Some of these test are more scientific than others, but the consensus of people who have actually done any tests is that it matters. As the frame rate gets higher, that difference becomes more debateable, but in the 30-60 range, it's actually pretty big. At least that's what I've found.

So like I said, either A) you care about gaming enough that maybe this matters to you. If you don't like my suggestion for an entry into the topic, find your own source & learn something. Or B) you really don't care that much, in which case just get on with telling casuals to git gud & stop spreading misinformation that other yet-to-be-educated people might be misled by. It doesn't help anyone.

@id0ntkn0w7: A higher refresh rate isn't just reacting to seeing information a little bit sooner. It's seeing the frame, making an action & seeing the result of that action faster. It's the chain of reactions that makes the real difference.

Linus Tech Tips did a video a few months back, testing if high refresh rate monitors made any real difference. If you're genuinely interested, search YouTube, "LTT does high fps make you a better gamer". It's worth half an hour of your time. If you're not interested enough to spend the time researching, then maybe don't make uneducated comments about it not mattering because, spoiler alert: you're wrong.

@systemoverload: Maybe some racing games & indie platformers.

4K is hard to run & these consoles really shouldn't advertise themselves as 4K machines. If you want to play at native 4K, buy a 3080... & even then, many AAA games will be too graphically demanding.

Luckily, the upscaling technology is getting much better. If you're playing on a 4K TV, you're better off using upscaling technology than tanking your frame rate. If you're playing on PC, 1440P really is the sweet spot & you should get a panel with variable refresh rate technology.

Cinematic Mode: for when you want to watch yourself die

60fps is the bare minimum standard for action games. If you can't achieve that, you better at least have a constant frame rate. Why would you offer a mode that it just not optimised? The hardware is fixed, you know the performance.

@naomha1: Yeah, it looked pretty, but very empty.

What I saw looked like they had a bunch of nice looking assets, but they just dropped a single enemy into the level & were demonstrating some of the combat. Other than the player & one enemy, there was no movement on the screen. It looked like there needed to be at least half a dozen more enemies in the environment or something. Not to mention more dynamic effects in the level.

Anyway, that was just my initial impressions from what I saw. I didn't watch too much because honestly, I thought this game was still a year or more away from launching.

@mrbojangles25: I agree. A lot of people gloss over the fact that Andromeda had some positive points.

They really need to get back to the roots of what made the first games great. A whole new galaxy & only two new races... it was just disappointing compared to what had gone before. Hopefully they'll combine some more modern gameplay with some old school characters & exploration.
