@Newsboy: I'm playing at 1440P, RTX Ultra but with motion blur turned down & film grain off, DLSS on Auto because I prefer the slightly higher framerate than any noticeable difference from Quality. The game looks great. I'm sure it's even better at 4K, but c'mon. Even on much lower settings, this is still an incredible looking game.
I'm not going to defend the game of give some imaginary score that it's "worth" because I haven't played it yet. However I feel like this is at least partly something like hype=11, game=9, so score=8 -1 for bugs, so 7.
Numbers aside, just reading the review felt like there was a lot of judgement on the world building. That's part of the game, so it's fair to criticise, but calling out the words they use for something set 50 years in a fictional future seems a little pointless. How much has English changed in the last 50 years? I don't know if all the trans stuff is as important as some journalists make it out to be either. The first season of Altered Carbon did an excellent job of showing the commodification of sex, so that will be the standard I measure this game by.
Anyway, I haven't put much stock in GameSpot reviews for a few years now. Interesting to see the opinion anyway, but I'm still going to get the game & make up my own mind.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of fine print these players haven't read. FIFPro & EA have probably found ways of making money off their likeness by hiding it in other contracts.
That said, if it turns out that they don't have the rights, EA should do the right thing & pay them. They make millions off these games with only minor tweaks to gameplay each year. The licenses for the teams & likenesses of players is literally the only reason to buy a new copy each year.
@Zandeus: Even SATA SSDs are still much faster than spinning hard drives. You can pick up a 1TB for pretty cheap these days. I absolutely recommend one as a gaming drive.
@gts-r288: You might have to tweak a few settings, rather than just set it all to high.
Considering hardware shortages, it's probably too late to buy anything new right now anyway. Wait a couple of weeks and check out the benchmarks. Upgrade to a used GPU from a couple of years back if you're not happy with your performance.
