@sparent180: You make good points, but I'm really talking about the ongoing campaign to cancel her. I don't think Disney would have fired her over this one tweet, or even all her tweets, if the Cancel Brigade wasn't raising their voices.
The 'final straw' tweet wasn't even really that bad imo. It wasn't hateful towards Jews, it was more a misunderstanding, or misrepresentation of history.
People should have the right to believe dumb things. And people should have the right to tell those people they're wrong. Shutting down this voice, or even hundreds or thousands of voices doesn't make these ideas go away. This is not a victory for truth & common sense. This just forces the anti-maskers (and whatever other ideology she supports, I don't really care) to go to other forums, away from the public eye, where they can have their own little echo chamber. Their persecution is nothing like what the Jews were subjected to under Nazi Germany, but they do feel persecuted. That's why they band together & double down on their dumb ideas.
It may seem fine when the SJWs are going after people with genuinely dumb ideas, but you should worry about who they will come for next.
I don't agree with her views, but this is a real blow against free speech.
I know it's a private forum & not the public domain, but as we shut down more forums to have debate, we only divide ourselves further & breed ignorance in the process. If she's wrong, then explain why. If her comparisons are misguided, then educate her how she could have said it better. Trying to 'cancel' her doesn't help anyone. For anyone agreeing with her views, it just further entrenches them; they feel like they're being discriminated against & double down on their tribalism.
@Wraith3: Bioware isn't Bioware anymore. They kept the name on the door, but all they key talent has left.
There is definitely way too much hype for the Star Wars brand though. I think the idea of what Star Wars could be is always much better than the execution of most of the films & games that actually come out.
@john_price_1: I remember when games came on 14 floppy disks.
It's hard to think why you'd want a physical copy of games on PC these days, unless you have a lot of shelf space you want to fill. Day 1 patches mean you don't even avoid the big downloads.
@so_hai: Most RPGs are more centred around swords & horses, so I'm pretty sure Cyberpunk has a lot more guns & cars than the majority of RPGs out there.
@uninspiredcup: CP was never going to live up to the hype, but I still really enjoyed the game & I'll come back for a second playthroiugh once it's patched up a bit.
