I'm still working my way through the campaign, but I agree with nerfing bullet builds. The game is at its best when you're using all your abilities, using creativity & tactics to get through. Those special bullet abilities were overpowered & encouraged playing the game as a more generic shooter. Players will always take the path of least resistance, even if it's not enjoyable.
That said, only nerfing bullet builds is not enough. There are some other abilities that probably need a buff & having endgame content that focuses on speedrunning diminishes the usefulness of many builds & discourages experimentation.
I've just given the demo a try, after launch. The game is actually pretty fun, I like how it encourages you to use your abilities & isn't just another cover shooter. However, there is a bit of jank - the UI could be tidied up, loading is disruptive, even though load times are short, plus I haven't heard great things about connectivity.
I don't know if it's worth NZ$100 on launch, but I might pick it up in a few weeks, once they polish it up a bit. I would definitely play it if was on Game Pass for PC too.
Nier: Automata is amazing. Everyone should go play it. Like, actually.
I've been spoiled by modern game design & I often find it difficult to go back to the clunky controls & low-res graphics of older games, even games I enjoyed at the time. I'm glad Nier is getting a reboot. If it's anything like Automata, I looks forward to seeing what it has to offer.
@stunningham: Witcher 3 did have some pretty bad problems. Like everything about Roach. T poses abounded.
I managed to put together a new PC in time for Cyberpunk & I haven't experienced nearly as many bugs or performance issues as some have, but I'd still say that CP is a far less polished game than W3. I enjoyed my time with CP & I'll definitely come back to it after even more fixes, but it's nowhere near the masterpiece that W3 was, even at launch.
@rekonym: You think it was 40% content complete at launch? What the hell kind of magic do you expect this game to be?!?
For a start, bug fixes are not content. This patch is not making the game more "content complete".
Secondly, this game is not trying to be GTA Online. It's supposed to be about doing missions, not wandering around, wreaking havoc.
CP2077 is far from perfect. I think it definitely could have done with some more dev time - both for bug fixes & generally fleshing out the systems that are in the game. Some of the stuff you mention are not bad ideas, but those "immersion" things like sitting on a bench are way down the list, below polishing the driving experience, improving the police systems, or even adding a hairdresser.
Like most trailers, it goes way too long. After about a minute I can tell if I want to see the film or not. Beyond that, they're just spoiling plot points, surprise moments & punchlines. I don't want to see a film where I've already seen all the funniest jokes.
