TLDR; Mo money from the rich kids with stupid parents who just want little Richie Rich to shut the hell up and stay in his room as much as possible. Almost seems like a dis from Sony the way they explain their target demographic. Also seems like they know they're not going to sell all that many of them since it's ridiculously expensive and console and game sales are way down in most markets so, exactly who is going to spend the extra time and money to utilize the marginally better specs for this SKU?
Gamespot really has to stop making these apologist articles. Yes, shutting down servers for a game that is only days old really is bad. Yes, selling a console for $1000CAD really is expensive. Having these pointless history classes is not going to change that. Just admit it, Sony the God is making some bad moves. You'll all feel better. Inflation is sky high. The gap between the wealthy and the poor has never been greater. Leaving out a disc drive and a $5 stand and asking $1000CAD is a big kick in the cojones to gamers. Sony is raising the price of every product and service they have and hoping the rest of the industry will do the same so that they can continue raking in record profits and still say they're as affordable as everyone else. They are beholden to their shareholders, not News sites or consumers so I don't get everybody jumping on the apology train.
I love when tech companies say things like double the power. It never works out quite the same in the real world as it does on paper and these numbers don't match their claim anyway. But sure, let's go with close to doubling the power because "Close" is such an arbitrary word, they can BS and get away with it. Doesn't really matter either way. Not paying $959.99CAD for a console. And without an optical drive at that. Not even if it could fetch my beer for me and bake me a "Canadian" pizza or brew a nice pot of Earl Grey.
Nice to have a quality, not GaaS game you can play on your own and not be forced to play with other people dressed up as a Teletubby or a freakin' rubber duck.
Wonderful. Sony's self crowned mascot is a complete ripoff of Wall-Es girlfriend, EVE. Really don't like Gamespot going with the paid ad being presented as a feature article someone just supposedly decided to write. Also, that's a lot of amazing feats for some tech demos and a game that isn't even out yet. When it comes to video games, people tend to decide who the mascot of a game company is, not the company. They do that by having a character become endeared to them over the years as they play the character in many games, not by a company selling it as their mascot. This isn't Frosted Flakes. I think the new game looks great but you can't force people to accept a character as a new mascot. We can do that without the help of Suits.
