The keepers are made by the Reapers(as said in ME), and they are mentioned in ME2, but only in a message, and if you did the ME scan mission. They operate the Citadel and they are the ones summoning the Reapers every cycle... However in ME2 it is hinted that the Keepers are made by the same people who made the Reapers... But what a great discussion thanks guys!! I soo wanna experience all these deaths now...Tali, Miranda and so on....it will be awesome!!
People are really pissed because the stance that GS is taking. Artistic integrity is a very important thing, whether people like it or not, and it looks like Bioware is taking it seriously as well. If Casey Hudson's words are to be believed, then while they are trying to appease the fans, they will try to retain their artistic integrity as well. So why is it that people are enraged that GS is taking a firm stance on this, and not enraged when Bioware does it?
Casey Hudson: "We're working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we've received." I think this is encouraging....for both those who maintain that Bioware should maintain its integrity and those who would like something to be changed. I followed this entire debacle closely and what I noticed is that "changing the ending" is automatically understood as "replacing the ending"(in most cases anyway). Of course we won't know what change will mean until we get it(if we get it), but change can mean addition as well, which is precisely what I understood from what Bioware staff has been communicating. That is why the "compromised artistic integrity" topic, while interesting, it's still a bit irrelevant at this point in time in my opinion, because we don't know what the changes will be.
@Enundr Yup. That's the point, we don't know. That's why it's not really a lore error, but more like a plot hole, or at least just intended ambiguity. So everything is up to us to speculate about or try to interpret it. Which is one of the reasons, of course, why people complain. While certain amount of ambiguity is fine, the ME3 has too much of it. So here's my take on it, if it's of any interest...:p
As I saw in the Arrival DLC, the dark energy went supernova and destroyed everything. In ME3 however that energy is shot at other relays as well. We know from the lore, that primary relays are connected with each other, so I suppose the ending, where we get the view of the entire galaxy, we see those primary relays shooting at each other. We also see that there are huge releases of energy, but we know from the Catalyst that it's not a destructive energy. Those blasts can do 3 things: deactivate reapers tech, control reapers, or make a synthesis between living and synthetic. After that the structure of the relays collapse and explode, but we know that it shouldn't be a great issue, because the great destruction should be caused by the energy stored in it. So I see two things....there are no supernovas, but primary relays get destroyed, but secondary relays are still around. So it works out. :p
