I actually think many PS2 exclusives match Xbox/GC's exclusive game graphics.

God of War 1&2, MGS3, Killzone (game sucked but had nice graphics), Silent Hill 2, Okami, Shadow's of the Colossus, Ico, and so on...

The leap from one gen to the next was instantly recognizable.

We didn't have to "wait" and see to know that the PS2 had better graphics. No doubt that it was a next gen console. No questioning if it was just a PS with a dvd player inside. You turned it on DAY ONE and said "wow this does look better".
