How stupid are they? You would think they would think about backing up, oh I don't know, their laptop which has A CURE FOR CANCER on it.

You jest, but alcohol was partially responsible for solving my social problems. Sadly.

i was being serious ;).

It's best when all people involved in the conversation are drunk, otherwise you'll just look stupid :D.

As an agnostic, I still find people's opinions on religion more interesting to think about than anything else. Especially lately, I've been understanding a lot of perspectives about life and all I can do is appreciate them. I don't understand how people can think other people are stupid for believing in things. Also, if you express that you're more interested in their opinion and show them complete respect, you're likely to get more in return and then the world becomes a better place (was that so hard?).

I respect religious people because I understand people's reasoning.

I think it's important to maintain tradition. For example, imagine a God actually did come to Earth one time and mesmerized the entire world and then left. After 500 years there would be people calling people who believe in it stupid ect. We should just all accept that we all have different beliefs and most importantly RESPECT one another.

I also understand that there are many different types of people involved in religion, and it's not right to put them all into one category.Another thing is you may just have to accept that you don't understand the entirety of religion. You should learn to accept things you don't understand sometimes, rather than just insult it. And also it's important to not generate superiority thoughts in your mind, because in my experience they are destructive to your thinking process.

if you don't ask, you aren't gaining anything. And if they say no, you aren't losing anything. So bottom line, go for it, ask, you only have one life to live.

Although I would probably lose some confidence, I see where you're coming from. It's hard to convert logical thinking into an understandable thought tied with the appropriate emotion however.

[QUOTE="bertainpp7"]

So I have lots of friends at school, and I can tell I am at least well-liked, but for some reason I don't do anything social outside of school. My whole life I've been rather sheltered, and I want to go out more. I only have a few select friends which I do boring things with...

This is kind of embarrassing, but I don't know how to be proactive in this department without risking looking weird.

Saying something to someone like "hey are you free this weekend? Do you want to chill sometime?" to me would make the person seem likeI'm desperate or something. I'm not sure, but just hanging out with one other guy is kind of weird, especially just going to the movies with one other guy... I need to join a group of people but no one invites me to anything :(.

In the same boat as you.

That's always nice to know. From my social help topics it seems a lot of people feel the same way as me.

Sometimes you're just gonna not worry about looking weird and just ask. Besides, how weird can you look by just asking normal questions.Travo_basic
Once this guy asked me and a friend to go to a restaurant for lunch, and it just seemed kind of weird because we both didn't really want to go but at the same time we didn't want to just flat out say "no" because he was trying to make friends. I can apply the same concepts to me asking someone to hang out- it's possible they don't want to, but at the same time they don't want to just tell me no because they'll feel sorry for me, and in conclusion we'd be in an awkward situation.

What do you mean by things? And do? Because things could get really weird. Or really sexy.Agent-Zero
Play video games or watch TV and talk. Going to the movies with just one other guy seems awkward now that we're older, or is that just me over thinking things again?
