Whatever you do, don't get a Beagle. They're adorable but that bark is so annoying.

I guess I'd either get a German Shepard(my dog is a German Shepard/hound mix so I'm kinda biased towards them) or a Rottweiler. My sister has a Rottweiler and it's probably the scariest dog I've ever seen in person but he's really friendly. Anyway, those two are what I'd get but it really depends on the dogs behavior. Obviously you wouldn't want an unfriendly Ruttweiler.

BTW I tend to lean towards bigger dogs because they're less annoying and don't tend to be desperate for attention 24/7.
