i said killzone2's textures were flat before that review was even written by cgi artist. Doesnt this kinda prove my point? im not bsing i didnt just read this review and agree with the cgi artist, this is exactly what i thought for years seeing this game. killzone2 reminds me of ps2 game vs xbox game texture wise lol.

The textures in KillZone 2 are terrible. Let me prove it to you. I already explained to you that KillZone 2 does not have a true environmental light in the whole game, an environmental light such as the sun. With that being said, Guerrilla avoided the use of normal mapping which is a cpu heavy process. Normal mapping depends on a light source for it to be seen, without a light source it's useless to have normal mapping. So in a game such as KillZone 2 where their is no sun and everything is mostly dark you have no normal mapping which makes things less real. Again if you do not agree see for yourself. Play Killzone 2 and look at the textures in the whole environment. Look at the textures on the surface of the buildings. Look at the textures on objects such as barrels, ladders, crates, etc. No normal mapping! Here is another example. To drive the point home I immediately put Gears 2 in and from the start everything looked full of realistic detail because of normal mapping. From the buildings to the mountains to the uniforms, there was no comparison. Guerrilla took the easy way out. By building an environment that is predominately dark you are able to avoid using other necessary processes that you must use to create a realistic game. By using darkness as a cloak your lighting schemes are less intensive and you texturing becomes flat. killzone2 textures remind me of a original xbox game's they are basically all flat mostly lack bump/normal maps/parallax maps they use those technologies some, but they didnt go overboard on just about every technique like epicgames did gears of war, killzone2's texture work is overall last gen compared to gears and calling this game graphics king is laughable.

Damn we have some misinformed people, anyone who knows how video games are built the technologies used in them know gears of war 2 is overall the graphics king.

Nobody remembers epicgames demoing gears of war on powerpc/mac computer? they didnt even originally develop the game with 360 dev kits, epicgames finally got final dev kits from microsoft real specs then epicgames demoed it again and still ran like ass, because no multicore support at the time, then they just optimized best they could. but gears of war source content wasnt even created on 360 dev kits.

To be fair, Unreal 3 was made specifically with the 360 in mind. Epic even played a part in setting the 360's specs....

Nope :| UE3 is a multiplatform engine with consoles in mind..it doesn't take advantage of any of the 360 features specially the GPU.

yep, unreal engine 3 was made before xbox360 was even finalized, it didnt even support multicore/threading when they first demoed gears of war on 360 dev kits ran like ass, then they finally did some optimizing got it running halfway decent for 360. basically source content they made on pc and just downscaled it for 360.

i found both R2, and KZ2 incredibly boring, and still play halo 3 to this day whereas KZ2, and R2 i stoppped playing almost immediately after beating the campaign, and i couldnt even force myself to finish KZ2.

Halo 3 just has much more modes, a much better community, and the game just takes so much more skill.

skill in abusing aim assist?

killzone2 has it, but i dont know if you can turn it off or not, halo 3 you cant though.
