@jcnba28 @AyatollaofRnR That's exaggerating a bit. Sony will probably not fail this generation, but neither will they innovate.

A developer with brains and balls can really turn this around, making a profit and a big name for themselves. Too bad developers these days have their brains on safe mode and their balls in their publishers' purses...

WiiU: not fancy enough for the snobs, not cheap enough for the masses.

Hopefully developers won't be too discouraged by these low initial sales figures, and will stick around long enough to reap the profits of increased sales when Nintendo caves in and either releases a more powerful version (unlikely) or drops the price (more likely, in time).

The odds of that announcement having nothing to do with a successor to the PS3 are about the same as the odds of Sony's entire marketing team suffering simultaneous heart attacks.

Which would be happening if this announcement isn't about a PS4.

@jeffrobin The big rabid fanbase was built more by Symphony of the Night. It tied together story elements from the previous games as best as it could, it played out in a style that made the game feel more like an open adventure+RPG+platformer hybrid than the old sidescrolling platformers, and it was presented in an anime style that was well received. It really was a great game. The subsequent Castlevania games on handheld systems followed it's formula. Those games were produced/directed by Koji Igarashi, who wasn't involved in the Lords of Shadow version of Castlevania that's why its so different and was hated on by a bunch of Castlevania series fans.

If they had focused on making a great single player experience using DICE's engine, they might have sold more doing it as a less expensive "single player expansion pack" to Battlefield...

@WiggityWhack The audience and the developers need room to breathe. That is something that publishers pushing sequel after sequel of the same old same old just don't seem to understand. They don't give people time to savor the first game before releasing the all-too-similar sequel.
