overclocking when you "don't know what you're doing" is like skydiving without knowing what it is.

look up guides first.

basicly:

your CPU has a multiplier
your motherboard has a FSB(or front side bus) speed
the two multiplied together = your CPU speed
usually the CPU is locked, so you can't change the multiplier (most of the time)
what you change is the motherboard's FSB
everything effects how well you can overclock it from RAM speeds to cooling enviornments.

don't do it, till you can say you know what you're doing.

Umm, can you point me to a link of a HD3870 for $220 in-stock?

[QUOTE="codezer0"]The 8800GT does perform a fair bit better than the HD 3870, but good luck getting the former for anywhere near its MSRP. Some places are even charging as much as $100 for overnight shipping of one, in addition to the extra over retail. If you search around, an HD 3870 can be had for as little as $220, and is a pretty solid value.digitalman42

lol, if you can find me a link for a wii for $249 in stock

....any use of the internet takes up potential bandwidth. if you are trying to do two things that use the internet at once, they have to share....

now let's let this die.

[QUOTE="musclesforcier"]

Where does it say it is the absence of all energy? Your making things up...

lightningbugx

Absolute Zero is the total absence of energy. Heat is energy, and so is electricity and light. The problem is that you can't run electricity at absolute zero because you are adding energy into an object that has no energy. Thus adding electricity will make the substance at absolute zero no longer be absolute zero.

It is like adding an object to a vaccuum. The vaccuum is no longer empty space.

Although resistances are reduced when temperature decreases, how does this affect the insulator material?

yeah, after all, what is temperature, but how much energy there is.

im not getting the 3850. not going to go into detail.

as far as canceling, yeah but this is the best price ive seen since before newegg rose prices.

im giving them 1 week to ship it, then im not going to pay for shipping, and if they don't like it im canceling.

the source engine, even Ep 2, isn't that heavy on the hardware. you may be able to get full performance out of that 8600. i got a solid, playable frame rate on my 7600gts and according to Gpureview, they are pretty even in stats except yours does dx10 and source doesn't have dx10 available.
