@squidracerX: Oh I fully expect them to expand PSNow, maybe even bring it to more countries. But I doubt it would go the way of Xbox BC where you can insert the disc and it will download the BC version or give you the option to buy, I expect them to lock it all behind streaming/downloading.

Fun fact, Sony have the source code for their first party games and are quite capable of recompiling them. Take a look at the leaps and bounds RPCS3 has taken in the last 6-12 months. PS4 had a fully working, almost 95% compatible PS1/PS2 emulators, which can be accessed on jailbroken systems.

Sony want backwards compatible, but on their terms which includes recharging for games just like Nintendo do. Why do you think the PS2 on PS4 run didn't last long? Nobody was going to pay those overinflated prices for basic emulated games.

With Mindjack though, was it ever available digitally? A large portion of games from the PS3/360 era never were sold digitally anyway.

Then of course is the sad realization PS5 can't even play a music CD never mind possibly play PS1 games. They want it as a media center but remove basic things like CD reading to save money.

If PC stores can still manage to provide ways to buy three decade old games there really is no reason why console companies can't do the same. $1 per person per sub is more than enough to cover server storage costs for games that aren't accessed anywhere near as often as current gen ones.

Either way I'm glad they realized there was/is an interest in older games, even if it was due to panic buying games before that ability was removed.

Not really sure why you think people feel entitled to anything, it's more about availability & preservation. You know, the thing Sony realized and backtracked on that you don't seem to understand.

@squidracerX: I would like to introduce you to Steam & GoG. A place where you can still buy 20-30 year old games...

I'm also not sure which rock you were hiding under when the Wii shop did close, because there WAS mass outrage.

@cboye18: It still baffles me they didn't include wi-fi capabilities in the PSClassic with access to purchase PS1 titles already available on the store. A Wi-Fi dongle is $2 and USB/NAND storage is dirt cheap.

Instead the modding community did it for them, just without SONY getting any of that revenue.

@OrionMD: You do realize all they were doing was removing the ability to purchase the games? They were still hosting them on Sony servers.

@notjm: I don't see you being outraged that Soulstorm is being given to PS5 owners only when it is being released on PS4 too, or Maneater back in January.

@ohnooze: Nope, it is part of the PS+ collection for PS5 owners. It's never been given as a PS+ title outside of that, or for PS4 owners if you don't have a PS5.

@EricTheO: Hey I'm an older gamer myself. Problem is, the censorship board aren't gamers or in touch with reality.

They do have guidelines to follow though, however borderline oppressive they are considering an 18 rating exists.
