Beyond Good and Evil (redone) and the sequal. No One Lives Forever. Dead Space 2. Mass Effect 2. A good "this gen" superhero game, like Hulk UD. Anything out of ID like Doom 4 or Rage. Oh yeah, all the RE's pre 4 (except Outbreak, bleaa).
What does it matter if your TV is over 32"? I have a 22" monitor, and I can tell a helluva difference. I am totally floored by the quality of a blue ray vs even an unscaled dvd. The quality of The Dark Night on BR seriously had my jaw on the floor.
I completely and totally enjoyed Dead Space (on the PC, though). Atmosphere, sound, upgrades, storyline, all made a great horror experience. Only thing is, and I don't know if it applies to consoles as well as PC, but the movement takes some getting used to. Your character is in a heavy suit, and moves like a tank, some people complain about it, I got used to it (adds a certain sense of immersion). Also, I bought it for Halloween last year, good times!
I don't know why you can't get sound out of your component cables if your monitor has speakers. Make sure in "audio options" on the PS3 you've checked the composite connection. It's possible to use HDMI for video, and then the composite for audio (that's the way I do it). But I run a split cable, y-shaped adapter (don't know what it's called) from the red and white composite ends (the PS3 audio out) which has a single female connector on the other end that I plug my computer speakers into. I'm tired and I don't know if this makes any sense, but I hope it helps. I spent quite a bit of time figuring it out myself.
@ mitchconlin: Agreed, PJ Eden has nightmarish trophy's. I'm 27 spectra in, about half way through, and only have a couple. But, I'm up to about 10k out of 50k rank!
What, no love for the LCD HD computer monitor? I own a SD tv, which I use to..., watch TV. I game (PC & PS3) on a 22" LCD monitor in 1080p which I bought for about $300 last year (now they're about $200 or just a little more for 24"+). On my income, It's not a bad deal, even though bigger would be better. But hey, It's a good starting point.
